National Conference on NextGen Administrative & e-Gov Reforms 2026 to Begin in Shillong with Digital Focus

Delhi: The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya, will organize a two-day National Conference on “NextGen Administrative & e-Gov Reforms” on July 13–14, 2026, in Shillong, Meghalaya.

The conference will bring together policymakers, administrators, technology experts and governance professionals from across the country to discuss the future of public administration, digital transformation and citizen-centric governance.

Senior Officials to Address Inaugural Session

The inaugural session will be addressed by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space.

Conrad K. Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, will also address the inaugural session of the National Conference.

The session will also feature addresses by Smt. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary, DARPG, DoPPW and MDoNER, Government of India, and Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, Chief Secretary, Government of Meghalaya.

Over 30 Speakers to Showcase Governance Innovations and Best Practices

More than 30 speakers, including senior government officials, District Collectors, governance experts and practitioners, will present award-winning initiatives and innovative governance models during the two-day conference.

The event is expected to witness participation from more than 300 delegates representing Central and State Governments, academic institutions, policy organizations and public administration sectors.

Key Themes to Include Digital Governance, Cyber Security and Citizen-Centric Services

The conference will focus on next-generation administrative reforms and technology-driven governance solutions.

The session will highlight citizen-centric reforms, innovative governance approaches and initiatives aimed at improving administrative efficiency and service delivery systems across the state.

Prime Minister’s Award-Winning Initiatives to Showcase District-Level Innovations

A special session will present Prime Minister’s Award-winning Initiatives (2023 and 2024).

The session will highlight successful district-level governance models that have created measurable impact in areas such as:

  • Holistic development of districts
  • Education
  • Rural livelihoods
  • Aspirational District Programme

National Awards for e-Governance 2026 Projects to Highlight Digital Transformation

The conference will feature presentations of National Awards for e-Governance 2026 winning projects from Ministries, State Governments, Urban Local Bodies and public institutions.

The projects will demonstrate the use of emerging technologies in sectors including:

  • Healthcare
  • Digital banking
  • Pilgrimage management
  • Panchayati Raj
  • Consumer protection

Development of North Eastern Region to Get Special Focus

A dedicated session will highlight development initiatives led by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the North Eastern Council (NEC).

The session will discuss areas such as:

  • Bamboo and agarwood value chains
  • Tourism development
  • Regional infrastructure
  • Project monitoring
  • Inter-state collaboration

DARPG-Supported Governance Initiatives from North East to Be Presented

The conference will also showcase DARPG/State Collaborative Initiative (SCI)-assisted Best Practices from Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland.

These initiatives will highlight:

  • Project monitoring systems
  • Online governance solutions
  • Consumer grievance redressal mechanisms

Conference Aims to Promote Next-Generation Administrative Reforms

The National Conference on “NextGen Administrative & e-Gov Reforms” aims to create a national platform for sharing innovative governance practices and promoting collaboration among States and Union Territories.

The event will focus on accelerating digital transformation, strengthening citizen-centric services, encouraging replication of successful governance models and building a transparent, efficient and responsive public administration system.
