NHPC Kishanganga Power Station Signs ₹2.77 Crore CSR MoU with Bandipora Administration for FY 2025–26

Bandipora: NHPC’s Kishanganga Power Station has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Administration, Bandipora, for the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives during the financial year 2025–26. Under the agreement, NHPC has approved an allocation of ₹2.77 crore for community development projects across the district.

The CSR initiatives aim to deliver long-term, sustainable benefits to local communities by strengthening healthcare, education, infrastructure, and disaster preparedness in the region.

Key Focus Areas of the CSR Programme

The approved CSR projects will cover multiple priority sectors, including:

  • Healthcare services and supply of advanced medical equipment
  • Nutrition and sanitation initiatives
  • Education and skill development programmes
  • Sports infrastructure and youth development
  • Rural development and water management works
  • Tourism-related infrastructure development
  • Disaster management and mitigation measures

These interventions are designed to improve the overall quality of life and promote inclusive development in Bandipora district.

Advanced Healthcare Infrastructure to Receive Major Boost

A significant portion of the CSR allocation has been earmarked for strengthening healthcare infrastructure. The approved projects include the procurement and installation of advanced medical equipment such as:

  • Floor-mounted full DR X-ray unit
  • Advanced CTG machine
  • Dialysis machines
  • Anesthesia workstation
  • Surgical microscope
  • CBC hematology analyzer
  • Other essential healthcare facilities

These initiatives are expected to enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities in government health institutions across the district.

Education, Sports, Tourism and Rural Development Initiatives

Under the MoU, NHPC will also support:

  • Construction of six classrooms and toilet facilities in government schools
  • Upgradation of sports infrastructure to promote youth development
  • Construction of viewpoints to boost local tourism
  • Construction of footbridges under rural development plans
  • Execution of water management works for local communities
  • Support for disaster mitigation and preparedness initiatives

MoU Signed in the Presence of Senior Officials

The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Rajesh Ranjan, Head of Project, Kishanganga Power Station, on behalf of NHPC, and Ms. Indu Kanwal Chib, Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, representing the District Administration.

The signing ceremony was attended by Somnath, General Manager (Civil); Mohammad Maqbool Lone, Chief Planning Officer, Bandipora; Arun Kumar, Deputy General Manager (Civil), NHPC; Manishkant Gaurav, Group Senior Manager (HR), along with other senior officials from NHPC and the District Administration.

District Administration Appreciates NHPC’s Commitment

Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib appreciated NHPC’s sustained contribution towards community development in Bandipora. She emphasized that CSR initiatives must be implemented with transparency, accountability, and alignment with sustainable development goals to ensure tangible benefits for local residents.

She further noted that continued collaboration between NHPC and the District Administration is expected to accelerate developmental initiatives and improve service delivery across multiple sectors.

NHPC Reaffirms Focus on Inclusive and Holistic Development

Addressing the media, Rajesh Ranjan, Head of Project, Kishanganga Power Station, stated that the CSR initiatives go beyond basic infrastructure and focus on healthcare access, education, sports facilities, rural upliftment, and disaster preparedness. He reiterated NHPC’s commitment to inclusive, region-specific development and continued support for local area development in Bandipora district.
