Maharatna PSU NHPC Limited has recently made an ex gratia payment of NPR 1 crore (approximately Rs. 62.56 lakh) as flood relief assistance to Nepal. The cheque was presented to Nepal’s Prime Minister Mr. KP Sharma Oli, by NHPC’s Director (Finance) Mr. RP Goyal, in Kathmandu. This assistance aims to support the Nepalese government’s relief and restoration efforts following recent floods, highlighting NHPC’s commitment to social responsibility.
During the meeting, Mr. Goyal updated the Prime Minister of the Himalayan nation about the progress of NHPC’s hydroelectric projects in Nepal, including West Seti, Seti River-6, and Phukot Karnali, which together will generate a total capacity of 1,844 MW, with an estimated investment of NPR 40,000 crore. These projects are expected to significantly contribute to Nepal’s prosperity.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for NHPC’s support in both disaster relief and hydroelectric development and assured that any issues related to these projects would be addressed through mutual dialogue.
