New Delhi: The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with Intel India, has launched two Agentic AI skilling programmes aimed at preparing learners and professionals for an evolving AI-driven workforce.
The NIELIT–Intel India Agentic AI Skilling Initiative was launched during a National Leadership Dialogue on “Preparing the Future Workforce for the Agentic AI Era” held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
The dialogue brought together representatives from government, academia, industry, foreign embassies and the skilling ecosystem to discuss emerging workforce requirements as artificial intelligence systems become increasingly capable of reasoning, planning and executing complex tasks under human oversight.
Two Programmes Launched Under the Initiative
The new initiative includes two programmes designed for different levels of engagement with Agentic AI:
Agentic AI for Everyone
The programme introduces learners to:
- Workflow automation
- AI agents and multi-agent systems
- AI-powered workflows
- No-code platforms
- Governance of agentic systems
- Applications for productivity and business transformation

It is designed to provide practical exposure to creating and managing AI-powered workflows without requiring extensive coding skills.
Engineering Agentic AI Systems
This programme focuses on the technical development and deployment of agentic AI systems.
Learners will receive practical exposure to:
- Agent architecture
- Tool integration
- Orchestration
- Memory systems
- No-code and low-code platforms
- Code-based frameworks
- Deployment of AI systems
The programme aims to help learners develop scalable and production-ready agentic AI solutions.
Focus on Changing Workforce Requirements
The National Leadership Dialogue examined how the transition from predictive and generative AI towards agentic systems could alter skill requirements across industries.
Discussions covered industry-aligned curricula, experiential learning, faculty preparedness, AI-enabled learning environments and stronger government-academia-industry collaboration.
The participants also highlighted the need to combine emerging technology skills with adaptability, continuous learning and human-centric capabilities as AI systems become more capable.
NIELIT to Leverage Nationwide Skilling Reach
NIELIT Director General Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi said the rapid development of AI is creating new requirements for India’s education and skilling ecosystem.
He said NIELIT’s collaboration with Intel India combines the institute’s nationwide skilling network with Intel’s technology expertise and industry perspective, allowing Agentic AI learning to reach institutions and learners across the country.
Government Highlights Need for AI Talent Pipeline
Sudeep Shrivastava, COO of the IndiaAI Mission and Joint Secretary, MeitY, highlighted the government’s focus on developing an inclusive AI ecosystem and a strong AI talent pipeline.
He also emphasised the importance of industry-led training, AI-focused educational programmes, digital learning initiatives, AI Data Labs and industry-academia partnerships to give students, researchers and professionals practical exposure to emerging AI technologies.
Industry-Linked Approach to AI Skilling
Intel Senior Director, Asia Pacific & Japan, International Government Affairs, Shweta Khurana, said AI is evolving from assistive tools towards agentic systems and physical intelligence, creating new requirements in education, jobs and industry.
She stressed the importance of AI skills, adaptability and human judgment and said the collaboration with NIELIT would help translate these priorities into practical skilling opportunities.
Initiative to Expand Access Across India
The NIELIT-Intel India initiative is intended to expand access to industry-aligned and practical Agentic AI learning opportunities for learners and institutions across the country.
The collaboration brings together NIELIT’s national skilling reach and Intel India’s technology expertise to support the development of an AI-skilled workforce equipped to work with emerging AI systems.
