New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL) Chairman and Managing Director Atul Gupta has received a three-month extension of the additional charge of Director (Commercial) with effect from September 30, 2026.
The Competent Authority approved the extension until the appointment of a regular incumbent to the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The approval was conveyed through a letter dated September 2, 2026.
EIL notified the BSE and NSE on September 3, 2026, in compliance with the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Atul Gupta Assumed Charge as EIL CMD in June 2026
Atul Gupta assumed charge as Chairman & Managing Director of Engineers India Limited on June 29, 2026.
A mechanical engineering professional, Gupta holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar.
He joined Engineers India Limited in 1992 as a Management Trainee and has built a career spanning more than three decades across technical, project execution and commercial functions.

Who is Atul Gupta?
Atul Gupta is an experienced engineering and project management professional with over 30 years of service at EIL. During his career, he has been associated with major domestic and international projects across several sectors.
His professional experience includes:
- Joined EIL as a Management Trainee in 1992.
- Over three decades of experience in engineering consultancy and EPC project execution.
- Expertise across refinery, petrochemical, pipeline and fertiliser sectors.
- Experience in both greenfield and brownfield projects in India and overseas.
- Led multidisciplinary teams involved in engineering, procurement, contracts, manufacturing, construction and commissioning.
- Served at multiple project sites before moving to EIL’s Corporate Office in 2007.
- Held key responsibilities across both technical execution and commercial management.
Atul Gupta’s Career Highlights at EIL
During his long association with EIL, Gupta has handled several key technical and commercial assignments and worked across different stages of complex projects.
His experience covers the complete project lifecycle, including engineering, procurement, contracting, construction and commissioning. His exposure to both domestic and overseas projects has also provided experience in managing diverse project requirements and multidisciplinary teams.
His broad experience across project execution and business functions is expected to support EIL’s growth and strategic initiatives.
Gupta Previously Headed EIL Commercial Directorate
Before taking charge as Chairman and Managing Director, Gupta headed EIL’s Commercial Directorate from August 2022.
In that position, he led key functions including:
- Business development
- Supply chain management
- Commercial operations
- Operational excellence
- Transparency and efficiency
- Value creation and business growth
His previous experience in the Commercial Directorate provides continuity as he takes on the additional responsibility of Director (Commercial).
