Joint Venture Profit Swings Into Positive

A major factor behind the sharp increase in EIL’s consolidated profit was the performance of its joint ventures and associates.

The company’s share of profit from joint ventures and associates improved from a loss of Rs 7.37 crore in Q1 FY26 to a profit of Rs 42.51 crore in Q1 FY27.

This represents a positive swing of nearly Rs 50 crore and provided a significant boost to the consolidated bottom line.

Consultancy and Engineering Segment Leads Revenue

EIL’s Consultancy & Engineering Projects segment generated revenue of Rs 517.98 crore during Q1 FY27, with segment profit of Rs 128.73 crore.

The Turnkey Projects segment reported revenue of Rs 301.86 crore and segment profit of Rs 22.66 crore.

Overall segment revenue stood at Rs 819.84 crore, while segment profit was reported at Rs 151.39 crore.

Standalone Profit Increases 55%

On a standalone basis, EIL also reported strong profit growth during the quarter.

Standalone revenue from operations declined 6.6% to Rs 800.87 crore, compared with Rs 857.15 crore in Q1 FY26.

Despite the decline in revenue, standalone profit after tax increased 55% to Rs 108.59 crore, compared with Rs 70.08 crore in the year-ago quarter.

Basic EPS increased to Rs 1.93, from Rs 1.25 in Q1 FY26.

EIL Appoints Two New Independent Directors

Alongside the financial results, EIL’s Board approved the appointment of two Non-Official Independent Directors following a directive from the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

The new directors are:

  • Kahuli Sema
  • Ashish Kumar Gupta

Their appointments are for a period of three years from the date of communication or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The appointments are currently undergoing the necessary compliance formalities and are expected to strengthen the company’s Board with additional independent oversight and strategic perspectives.

Board Meeting and Auditor Review

EIL’s Board meeting was held on August 13, 2026, beginning at 3:30 PM and concluding at 6:45 PM.

The quarterly financial results underwent a limited review by statutory auditor Datta Singla & Co., Chartered Accountants.

The auditor’s report dated August 13, 2026, stated that the reviewed financial statements did not contain material misstatements and were prepared in accordance with the applicable Indian Accounting Standards.

What the Q1 Results Indicate

The sharp improvement in consolidated profit, despite lower revenue, highlights the impact of improved contributions from EIL’s joint ventures and associates.

The turnaround from a loss of Rs 7.37 crore to a profit of Rs 42.51 crore from these investments was a key contributor to the strong year-on-year growth in consolidated earnings.

The company also continues to maintain a strong financial position, with consolidated capital employed of Rs 3,294.72 crore and other equity of Rs 2,864.71 crore, according to the reported figures.
