NIRL and OREDA Sign MoU at GELS 2025 to Develop Solar, Hybrid, Rooftop and Energy-Storage Projects in Odisha

The partnership aims to accelerate Odisha’s clean-energy transition by expanding renewable infrastructure through large-scale solar, hybrid systems and advanced energy-storage initiatives.

New Delhi: In a major push toward accelerating Odisha’s clean-energy mission, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) and the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025 held in Puri. The partnership aims to jointly develop a wide range of renewable-energy projects—including solar, hybrid, rooftop solar, and advanced energy-storage systems—across the state.

The MoU was formally exchanged by Mr. Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, Additional Secretary, Department of Energy & CEO, OREDA Ltd., in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister of Odisha, Mr. Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. Several senior officials, including Mr. Vishal Kumar Dev, IAS, Dr. Satyapriya Rath, IAS, and Dr. Debi Dutta Tripathy, OFS, were also present during the ceremony, underscoring the importance of this strategic collaboration.

Boosting Odisha’s Clean-Energy Infrastructure

The partnership between NIRL and OREDA aims to enhance Odisha’s renewable-energy capabilities through large-scale deployment of solar power plants, hybrid power systems, and rooftop solar solutions. The inclusion of modern energy-storage technologies is expected to significantly improve grid stability and ensure round-the-clock clean power availability.

This expansion of renewable capacity aligns with Odisha’s long-term sustainability goals and its vision to emerge as a leading green-energy hub in the eastern region of India.

Strategic Push for Sustainable Growth

The collaboration is seen as a major milestone in strengthening Odisha’s renewable-energy ecosystem. With technical expertise, project development capabilities, and policy support coming together, the MoU is expected to unlock new opportunities for investment, employment, and technological innovation in the state’s energy sector.

Both NIRL and OREDA emphasized their shared commitment to accelerating Odisha’s transition to clean energy while contributing to India’s national renewable-energy targets.
