NLC India Appoints Poonam Chandrakar as Independent Director for 3 Years 

Ministry of Coal appoints experienced public administrator Poonam Chandrakar to NLC India’s Board, bringing expertise in governance, infrastructure and policy implementation.

Neyveli/Chennai: NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, has appointed  Poonam Chandrakar as a Non-Official Independent Director on its Board of Directors for a period of three years.

The appointment was made by the Ministry of Coal through its order dated July 15, 2026, and became effective from July 16, 2026. The appointment will remain valid for three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

NLC India informed the stock exchanges about the appointment on July 17, 2026, in compliance with applicable regulatory disclosure requirements.

Poonam Chandrakar Appointed as Non-Official Independent Director

According to the company disclosure,  Poonam Chandrakar has been appointed as a Non-Official Independent Director with Director Identification Number (DIN): 11748295.

The appointment is expected to strengthen NLC India’s Board with his experience in public administration, governance, and policy implementation.

The company confirmed that  Chandrakar is not related to any existing director of NLC India and has not been debarred from holding the office of director by SEBI or any other regulatory authority.

Profile and Experience of  Poonam Chandrakar

 Poonam Chandrakar brings more than two decades of experience in public administration and governance.

His areas of expertise include:

  • Administrative reforms
  • Policy implementation
  • Infrastructure development
  • Institutional management
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Power and mining sector administration

During his public service career, he has handled various leadership responsibilities and contributed to improving governance systems and development initiatives across important sectors.

Educational Qualifications

 Poonam Chandrakar holds a:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts from Kakatiya University, Warangal
  • Diploma in Marketing Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

He has also completed specialised courses in Journalism and Arogya Ratna, adding to his diverse professional background.

Appointment to Support NLC India’s Growth Plans

The appointment comes at a time when NLC India is focusing on expanding its power generation and mining operations while strengthening its diversification strategy.

The inclusion of an experienced administrator like  Chandrakar is expected to support the company in areas such as strategic decision-making, governance practices, and stakeholder management.

His experience in public administration and infrastructure-related sectors is likely to add value to the company’s future growth initiatives.

Regulatory Disclosure and Compliance

NLC India disclosed the appointment under Regulation 30 and Regulation 51 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

The company submitted details of the appointment to stock exchanges for information and record purposes.
