New Delhi: Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has emerged as the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process for a major power transmission project.
The company has received the Letter of Intent (LoI) for installing two Synchronous Condenser (SynCon) units at the 765/400/220 kV Fatehgarh-II Power Station on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The LoI was received by POWERGRID on July 17, 2026, marking another significant achievement for the company in strengthening India’s power transmission infrastructure.
POWERGRID to Install Synchronous Condensers at Fatehgarh-II
Under the awarded project, POWERGRID will develop and operate two Synchronous Condenser units at the Fatehgarh-II Power Station.
The project will play a crucial role in improving the performance and reliability of the electricity grid by enhancing voltage stability and supporting reactive power management.
The installation is expected to strengthen the transmission system in the Northern Region and support the growing power requirements of the country.
