Rajkot: In a major push toward green energy development, NLC India Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to explore the development of large-scale renewable energy projects across the state. The MoU was signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for the Saurashtra and Kutch region in Rajkot.
Scope of the Collaboration
The non-binding agreement envisions the development of solar, wind, hybrid, and battery energy storage projects in Gujarat, with a combined investment potential of around Rs 250 billion. The projects are expected to create substantial employment opportunities across the region while enhancing the state’s renewable energy capacity.
Implementation will be carried out through NLC India Renewables Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited dedicated to driving the company’s green energy growth and sustainability initiatives.
Government Support and Facilitation
Under the MoU, the Gujarat government will provide statutory approvals, clearances, registrations, and other regulatory support in accordance with prevailing state policies. This support is intended to ensure time-bound execution of the renewable energy projects, aligning with both state and national renewable energy objectives.
Contribution to National Goals
The collaboration aligns with NLC India Limited’s corporate plan to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, reinforcing its commitment to:
- Sustainable development
- Energy security
- Decarbonisation
By advancing large-scale renewable energy projects, the partnership is expected to strengthen Gujarat’s position as one of India’s leading renewable energy hubs, contributing significantly to the country’s aim of increasing non-fossil fuel-based power generation and achieving net-zero emissions.
