NLC India Partners with NIT Trichy for 400 km Road Safety Audit to Improve Neyveli Township 

NLC India partners with NIT Tiruchirappalli to conduct a detailed road safety assessment aimed at identifying high-risk stretches and improving infrastructure safety standards in Neyveli.

New Delhi: NLC India Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli to conduct a comprehensive road safety assessment across its township in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu. The initiative aims to improve road infrastructure and reduce accident risks through expert-led analysis and data-driven recommendations.

The agreement was signed in the presence of NLC India CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli and Director (HR) Samir Swarup, reflecting the company’s focus on strengthening safety standards using academic and technical expertise.

Road Safety Study Covering 400 km of Township Roads

As part of the project, NIT Tiruchirappalli will carry out a detailed evaluation of nearly 400 kilometres of roads within the NLC township.

Key Objectives of the Study:

  • Identification of accident-prone and high-risk road stretches
  • Assessment of road maintenance and infrastructure gaps
  • Analysis of traffic flow and safety conditions
  • Recommendations for advanced road safety improvements

The study will cover both single-lane and double-lane road networks in the township area.

Focus on Data-Driven Safety Improvements

The collaboration is aimed at moving beyond traditional road inspections by using a research-based approach. Experts from NIT Trichy will provide technical insights to support:

  • Improved traffic management systems
  • Enhanced road design and safety measures
  • Preventive strategies to reduce road accidents
  • Long-term infrastructure planning for safer mobility

Officials said the initiative will help strengthen safety standards across the Neyveli township.

Strengthening Infrastructure and Public Safety

NLC India Limited stated that the partnership reflects its ongoing commitment to infrastructure resilience and public safety. By involving a premier technical institute, the company aims to ensure scientifically backed improvements in road infrastructure.

The initiative is expected to play a key role in making township roads safer for residents, employees, and transport users.
