NLMC Recommends Monetisation of Surplus Government Assets Worth Over ₹5,000 Crore 

NLMC Board reviews progress of surplus land and building asset monetisation and approves Annual Financial Statements and Directors’ Report for FY2025-26.

New Delhi: The National Land Monetization Corporation Limited (NLMC) has recommended the monetisation of surplus land and building assets worth more than ₹5,000 crore, marking a significant step in the Government’s efforts to unlock value from underutilised and surplus government assets.

The recommendations were made at the 21st Meeting of the Board of Directors of NLMC, held on September 18, 2026. The proposals cover surplus land and building assets identified for monetisation across Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and other government entities.

NLMC Reviews Progress of Asset Monetisation

The NLMC Board reviewed the progress of the Corporation’s efforts to facilitate the monetisation of surplus assets held by CPSEs and other government entities.

NLMC has been working closely with asset-owning organisations to move the monetisation process forward. Its activities include:

  • Identifying suitable surplus land and building assets
  • Conducting necessary due diligence
  • Facilitating asset valuation
  • Structuring appropriate monetisation processes
  • Coordinating with asset-owning entities
  • Promoting transparent and efficient mechanisms for value realisation

The Board was briefed on the pace and progress of asset monetisation initiatives being undertaken across various asset-owning entities.

Board Focuses on Faster and Transparent Monetisation

During the meeting, discussions focused on expediting the monetisation process and addressing implementation-related requirements so that identified assets can progress through appropriate and transparent mechanisms.

The Board also emphasised the need to maintain momentum and strengthen coordination with stakeholder entities to facilitate the timely monetisation of surplus assets.

The recommendation of proposals involving assets worth more than ₹5,000 crore highlights the growing scale of NLMC’s engagement in the Government’s asset monetisation programme.

NLMC Approves Annual Financial Statements for FY2025-26

The Board also approved the Annual Financial Statements and Directors’ Report of NLMC for the financial year 2025-26.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review NLMC’s ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening its institutional and operational capabilities and developing a more structured framework for asset monetisation.

Focus on Unlocking Value from Surplus Government Assets

NLMC is working to facilitate the productive use of surplus land and building assets that may otherwise remain underutilised.

By supporting asset-owning entities in identifying, valuing and monetising such properties, the Corporation aims to help unlock their economic value through transparent and commercially appropriate processes.

The Corporation’s approach focuses on:

  • Better utilisation of surplus government assets
  • Transparent asset monetisation
  • Efficient valuation and due diligence
  • Stronger coordination with asset-owning entities
  • Timely implementation of monetisation proposals

The latest recommendations are expected to further strengthen NLMC’s role in the Government’s broader asset monetisation programme.
