Like every other events and celebrations, Services Week of IAS officers in UP won’t take place this year due to the pandemic. A functionary of UP IAS association gave the information. Services week is a prestigious event of UP cadre IAS officer and was scheduled to be organised in December. This event has been organised since colonial era to provide a platform for the young officers to interact with the Governor and Chief Minister of the state along with other ministers. The programmes includes brainstorming session on state affairs followed by lunch and dinner at the governor’s and CM’s residences. The officer’s spouses are also invited to participate. However, seeing the sudden increase of Covid-19 cases it has been cancelled because organizing a big gathering while following all the norms was difficult.
Let it be noted that it is not the first time when this gathering has been cancelled. Last year also this event couldn’t take place as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was preoccupied in official works. An official of the association said that the government has set the cap of maximum 100 invites at the weeding. On the other hand around 600 IAS officers are gathered in Week. This is the reason why the program remains cancelled this year.
