Bengaluru: In a major push to strengthen Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and manufacturing in Karnataka, the National Small Industries Corporation on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Technology cum Common Facility Centre (TCFC) at Peenya Industrial Area.
The facility, being developed with support from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, is estimated to cost around ₹46 crore and is expected to become a major hub for technology adoption, innovation, skill development and enterprise support for MSMEs in Karnataka and neighbouring regions.
Jitan Ram Manjhi Lays Foundation Stone
The foundation stone was laid by Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi in the presence of Minister of State for MSME Shobha Karandlaje, MSME Secretary Bharat Khera, senior officials from the central and state governments, industry associations, bankers and MSME entrepreneurs.
Addressing the gathering, Manjhi said the government is continuously establishing modern technology centres and common facility centres across the country to create globally competitive MSMEs and strengthen India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
He noted that such centres will help small businesses adopt advanced technologies, improve product quality, enhance productivity and create employment opportunities for youth.

Shobha Karandlaje: Centre Will Catalyse Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje said that Peenya, one of India’s largest industrial clusters, requires advanced institutional infrastructure to meet the rapidly evolving technological needs of MSMEs.
She stated that the proposed centre would serve as a catalyst for:
- Innovation
- Entrepreneurship
- Skill development
- Industrial growth
across Karnataka and neighbouring states.
Karandlaje also praised NSIC for launching the initiative, saying it would help bridge longstanding gaps in technology access and skill development.
Bharat Khera Highlights Ministry’s Technology-Focused Approach
Bharat Khera said the MSME Ministry is consistently focusing on:

- Digital transformation
- Quality enhancement
- Innovation-led growth
He added that the Peenya TCFC will provide integrated technology support services, common infrastructure and incubation facilities under one roof.

The ₹46 crore centre will include:

- Skill development and training infrastructure

The centre is expected to significantly improve the competitiveness of MSMEs by providing affordable access to cutting-edge tools and technical expertise.

Representatives from leading industry associations welcomed the project and said it would address the long-standing need for high-quality technology support infrastructure in the Peenya Industrial Area and surrounding manufacturing clusters.
The event was attended by senior officials from NSIC, Karnataka industrial development agencies, bankers, industry bodies, and entrepreneurs.
