Chennai: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle shortly after the formation of the C. Joseph Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, the Government of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday transferred and posted several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across crucial departments, including Finance, Revenue Administration, Tourism, and the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation.

The transfer orders were issued by Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar in the name of the Governor, signaling the new government’s intent to streamline administrative leadership in key sectors.

N. Muruganandam Appointed Revenue Administration Commissioner

Senior IAS officer N. Muruganandam, who recently returned from leave, has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Revenue Administration and Disaster Management.

He replaces P. Amudha, who had been holding the post as an additional charge.

The Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department plays a central role in handling natural disasters, relief operations, and district-level governance.

M. A. Siddique Takes Charge as Finance Secretary

In one of the most important postings of the reshuffle, M. A. Siddique, who was serving as Additional Chief Secretary and Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Limited, has been transferred as Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department.

He succeeds T. Udhayachandran in the state’s most critical financial portfolio.

The Finance Department oversees budget preparation, expenditure management, fiscal planning, and implementation of key government policies.

Dr S. Swarna Posted to Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments

Dr S. Swarna, who was serving as Principal Secretary and State Project Director of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments Department.

She replaces Dr K. Manivasan, who had been holding additional charge of the department.

The department is responsible for promoting Tamil Nadu’s tourism sector, preserving cultural heritage, and managing temple administration.

K. Nanthakumar Appointed Managing Director of TASMAC

In a high-profile posting, K. Nanthakumar, currently serving as Registrar of Cooperative Societies, has been placed at the disposal of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation for appointment as its Managing Director.

He replaces T. Christuraj.

TASMAC manages Tamil Nadu’s state-controlled liquor retail network and is one of the state’s largest revenue-generating entities.

Administrative Realignment Under the New TVK Government

The reshuffle comes within days of C. Joseph Vijay assuming office as Chief Minister on May 11, 2026. The appointments are seen as part of a broader administrative realignment aimed at placing experienced officers in strategic positions to support the new government’s governance agenda.

The changes affect departments that are central to fiscal management, disaster response, tourism promotion, and state revenue generation, indicating the government’s focus on efficient administration and policy execution.
