Chennai: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle shortly after the formation of the C. Joseph Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, the Government of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday transferred and posted several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across crucial departments, including Finance, Revenue Administration, Tourism, and the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation.
The transfer orders were issued by Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar in the name of the Governor, signaling the new government’s intent to streamline administrative leadership in key sectors.

He replaces P. Amudha, who had been holding the post as an additional charge.

M. A. Siddique Takes Charge as Finance Secretary
In one of the most important postings of the reshuffle, M. A. Siddique, who was serving as Additional Chief Secretary and Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Limited, has been transferred as Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department.
He succeeds T. Udhayachandran in the state’s most critical financial portfolio.
The Finance Department oversees budget preparation, expenditure management, fiscal planning, and implementation of key government policies.

Dr S. Swarna, who was serving as Principal Secretary and State Project Director of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments Department.

Administrative Realignment Under the New TVK Government
The reshuffle comes within days of C. Joseph Vijay assuming office as Chief Minister on May 11, 2026. The appointments are seen as part of a broader administrative realignment aimed at placing experienced officers in strategic positions to support the new government’s governance agenda.
