NTPC Appoints Kishore Chandra Patra as Head of Project at 2,600 MW Korba Power Station

New Delhi: NTPC Limited has appointed Mr. Kishore Chandra Patra as the Head of Project, NTPC Korba (2,600 MW). He assumed charge on February 4, 2026, bringing with him over 35 years of extensive experience in power plant operations, maintenance, and project leadership.

Over Three Decades of Leadership in Power Sector

Before taking charge at NTPC Korba, Mr. Patra was serving as Chief General Manager (Operations & Maintenance), where he played a key role in enhancing operational reliability, strengthening safety standards, and driving maintenance excellence across NTPC’s operations.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has held several critical leadership positions across NTPC’s major projects and joint ventures, contributing significantly to plant performance and efficiency.

Experience Across Major NTPC Projects

Mr. Patra has served at several prominent NTPC establishments, including:

  • Farakka
  • Talcher Kaniha
  • NBPPL (Noida)
  • ER-II Headquarters, Bhubaneswar
  • Vallur

He has also successfully served earlier as Head of Project at NBPPL, where his leadership contributed to improved operational outcomes and strengthened safety practices.

Strong Technical Background and People-Centric Leadership

An alumnus of UCE Burla, Mr. Patra joined NTPC in 1989 as an Executive Trainee (Mechanical Engineering). He is widely respected for his deep technical expertise, people-centric leadership approach, and strong commitment to NTPC’s core values of safety, sustainability, and excellence.

A strong proponent of continuous learning, he has undergone extensive training at the Power Management Institute (PMI) and other reputed institutions. His training portfolio includes safety leadership, advanced management practices, boiler design and maintenance, financial management, corporate governance, sustainability, and technical skill development.

As Head of Project, NTPC Korba, Mr. Kishore Chandra Patra will lead the station’s operations and maintenance functions, with a sharp focus on safety, efficiency, reliability, sustainability, and community engagement. Under his leadership, NTPC Korba is expected to further strengthen its position as one of NTPC’s flagship power stations, contributing reliably to India’s growing power demand.
