Mumbai: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated energy company, marked its Golden Jubilee Year and 51st Raising Day with grand celebrations at the Western Region–I Headquarters in Mumbai. The event celebrated NTPC’s remarkable journey from a single-unit company in 1975 to becoming India’s largest power producer and a global energy leader.
Flag Hoisting and Commencement of Ceremony
The celebration began with the hoisting of the NTPC flag by Shri E. Satya Phani Kumar, Regional Executive Director (West-I), followed by the rendition of the NTPC Geet. Shri Phani Kumar extended warm greetings to employees, family members, and associates, reflecting on NTPC’s legacy of powering India’s growth for over five decades.
NTPC’s Growth and Expansion Plans
Shri Phani Kumar highlighted NTPC’s current installed capacity of 84,848 MW, with an additional 32,453 MW under construction. He outlined the company’s vision to reach a long-term target of 244 GW by 2037 through expansion into renewable energy, hydro, nuclear, and green hydrogen sectors. Key initiatives include flexible pumped storage projects and India’s first large-scale green hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka.
Financial Performance and Operational Excellence
The address also underscored NTPC’s strong operational and financial performance, including a profit after tax of Rs 9,428 crore in the first half of FY 2025–26. NTPC’s transparency and innovation were highlighted through e-procurement initiatives on the GeM portal worth Rs 19,700 crore.
National and Global Recognitions
Shri Phani Kumar proudly shared NTPC’s recent accolades: inclusion in TIME World’s Best Companies 2025, Generation Company of the Year Award, CII–ITC Sustainability Award for CSR Excellence, and multiple HR recognitions including Brandon Hall, ATD BEST, ET Human Capital Gold Award, and the UN Women WEPs Award for the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM).
Achievements of Western Region–I Projects
The performance of Western Region–I projects was also acknowledged, with commendations for Solapur, Mouda, Anta, Kawas, Jhanor, and Ratnagiri (RGPPL) stations for operational efficiency, sustainability, and community initiatives. Highlights included Solapur’s waste management achievements, Mouda’s energy efficiency, Anta’s solar excellence, Kawas’s engineering innovation, and Jhanor’s environmental awards.
Commitment to Social Responsibility
NTPC WR-I’s social initiatives include 57 CSR projects worth over Rs 81 crore across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Goa. These cover healthcare, education, skill development, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability, aligned with UN SDGs. The Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) reached over 200 girls this year, and 30 science labs and smart classrooms were established in government schools.
Corporate Communications and Outreach
The Corporate Communications Department received four awards at the 19th PRCI Global Communication Conclave. Notable initiatives included NTPC branding at Mumbai’s Terminal 2 Airport and a State-Level Painting Competition under BEE, with participation from over 800 schools in Maharashtra.
Celebratory Conclusion
The event concluded with a cake-cutting and balloon-release ceremony, followed by awards distribution to winners of the Vigilance Awareness Week quiz and essay competitions. Awards were presented by Shri Phani Kumar, Shri Md. Ashfaq (CEO, NGEL), Shri P. R. Jena (GM, Commercial), and Smt. Vandana Chaturvedi (Regional Head of HR, West-I).
