New Delhi: NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, has invited bids for the development of a 900 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected, ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) project near its existing Kurnool Solar Project in Andhra Pradesh. The project aims to expand NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio and strengthen its utility-scale solar power generation capacity.
The tender covers a comprehensive engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package, including land acquisition, solar module supply, power evacuation infrastructure, project construction, testing, commissioning and operation and maintenance (O&M) services.
According to the tender notice, the deadline for bid submission is November 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM, while bids will be opened at 3:30 PM on the same day.
Land Acquisition Included in NTPC REL’s EPC Tender
One of the key features of the 900 MW solar project tender is the inclusion of land procurement within the EPC package. The successful bidder will be responsible for identifying and acquiring suitable, encumbrance-free land for the solar power plant and the owner’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project.
The selected contractor must also facilitate the transfer of land ownership or lease rights in favour of NTPC REL in accordance with the tender’s terms and conditions.
By incorporating land acquisition into the EPC contract, NTPC REL aims to integrate land arrangements with the project’s engineering and construction activities. This approach places responsibility for securing the required land and executing the project within a coordinated contractual framework.

Dedicated 400 kV Transmission Line Planned for Power Evacuation
The scope of work extends beyond solar panel installation to include the high-voltage transmission infrastructure required to evacuate electricity from the project into the grid.
The successful bidder will develop a dedicated 400 kV transmission line connecting the solar project to NTPC REL’s existing Kurnool Solar Project Pooling Substation (PSS). The contractor will also be responsible for securing the necessary right of way for the transmission line.
In addition, the EPC package includes the supply, erection and commissioning of a new 400 kV terminal line bay at the pooling substation, along with bus extension wherever required.
The contractor must establish the power evacuation system up to the designated pooling substation and install telemetry infrastructure up to the Inter-State Transmission System pooling substation through the Kurnool facility.
These transmission arrangements will form a critical part of the project by enabling the electricity generated by the solar plant to be transferred to the grid.
Complete Engineering and Construction of the Solar Power Plant
NTPC REL’s tender covers the complete execution of the 900 MW grid-connected solar photovoltaic project. The selected EPC contractor will undertake the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning of the solar power plant.
The package also includes the supply of solar modules and all associated civil, structural and electrical works required to establish the facility.
Alongside the generation infrastructure, the contractor will develop the supporting systems needed for grid connectivity and power evacuation. The integration of these activities under a single EPC package is intended to streamline project execution and coordinate the development of the solar plant with its associated infrastructure.
The project is expected to add significant utility-scale solar generation capacity to NTPC REL’s renewable energy portfolio once completed and commissioned.
Three-Year Operation and Maintenance Obligations
The responsibilities of the selected bidder will continue beyond the construction and commissioning stages. Under the tender conditions, the contractor will also be responsible for operating and maintaining the solar power plant for three years from the date of commissioning.
The O&M scope includes providing the necessary consumables and spare parts during the specified period.
This arrangement is designed to support the plant’s initial operational phase and ensure that maintenance requirements are addressed following commissioning. It also places responsibility for construction and initial operational support within the broader EPC package.
NTPC REL Expands Its Solar Energy Portfolio in Andhra Pradesh
The proposed 900 MW solar project near Kurnool represents another step in NTPC’s efforts to expand its renewable energy generation capacity through large-scale solar developments.
Andhra Pradesh is an important location for utility-scale solar projects, supported by its solar energy potential and established grid-connected infrastructure. Locating the project near NTPC REL’s existing Kurnool Solar Project also provides an opportunity to connect the new facility with the associated pooling substation infrastructure specified in the tender.
By combining land procurement, solar generation facilities, high-voltage transmission connectivity and three years of O&M responsibilities under a single EPC package, NTPC REL is seeking an integrated approach to project delivery.
The bidding process will determine the contractor responsible for executing the project, with bids scheduled to be opened on November 16, 2026.
