Guwahati: Numaligarh Refinery Limited has signed a long-term sulphur offtake agreement with Teesta Agro Industries Limited, marking a key step in strengthening its post-expansion marketing strategy and ensuring stable demand for its sulphur output.

The agreement was signed on June 2, 2026, in Guwahati.

10-Year Long-Term Supply Agreement Structure

Key highlights of the deal:

  • Annual supply: Up to 15,000 MT sulphur
  • Product form: Lump sulphur

Strengthening Post-Expansion Marketing Strategy

The deal is part of Numaligarh Refinery Limited’s broader strategy to effectively commercialize output from its expanded refining capacity.

This agreement follows another recent sulphur offtake deal signed with Progressive Fertichem Private Limited, reflecting NRL’s growing focus on building a diversified customer base for by-products.

Expanding Industrial Customer Base and Demand Security

With back-to-back agreements, Numaligarh Refinery Limited is actively strengthening its marketing network and reducing demand uncertainty for sulphur.

The company aims to:

  • Secure long-term industrial buyers
  • Improve supply chain efficiency
  • Ensure smooth product evacuation
  • Maximize value from refinery by-products

Strategic Importance for Refining Operations

Industry observers note that long-term offtake agreements are crucial for refining companies as they help stabilize revenue streams and ensure predictable demand for secondary products like sulphur.

This agreement is expected to enhance operational stability and support NRL’s long-term growth trajectory.
