New Delhi: India has long depended on imported passenger aircraft for commercial aviation. Now, Omkam Aviations wants to change that by bringing Russian-made IL-114-300 regional aircraft to India and gradually manufacturing them locally.
The company has signed an LoI with Russia’s UAC for 50 aircraft and is discussing technology transfer arrangements that could help build a domestic aircraft manufacturing ecosystem. The announcement was made during the Innoprom India trade fair held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
What Is Included In The Omkam Aviations IL-114-300 Deal
According to Omkam Aviations, the first batch will include six IL-114-300 aircraft. An assembly line is expected to be established in India after the initial deliveries. The company says the project will then move towards technology transfer and larger-scale local production.
