New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) is set to begin a fresh round of selection interviews for crucial functional Director-level positions in four major Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).

The selection process will cover senior executive vacancies in four strategically important sectors — defence, steel, heavy equipment and coal. PESB has finalized the schedule for interviewing candidates who have been shortlisted for the respective posts.

The interviews will be conducted between August 8 and August 13, 2026, with the selection process spread across four key CPSEs — Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), BEML Limited and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).

The upcoming interviews are expected to determine the candidates who will take charge of critical functional areas in these public sector enterprises.

HAL Director (Operations) Interview on August 8

The selection process will begin with the Director (Operations), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) post.

Candidates shortlisted for the position are scheduled to appear before the PESB selection board on August 8, 2026.

The Director (Operations) position at HAL is particularly significant given the company’s role in India’s defence aerospace and aviation ecosystem. The position involves overseeing key operational functions in an enterprise that is closely associated with the country’s defence production capabilities.

The interview will provide the selection board an opportunity to assess the shortlisted candidates for their suitability for the senior executive position.

SAIL Director (Finance) Selection Interview on August 10

The next interview is scheduled for August 10, when PESB will evaluate candidates shortlisted for the post of Director (Finance), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

SAIL is one of India’s major steel producers and a prominent CPSE under the Ministry of Steel. The Director (Finance) is a key functional position, with responsibilities linked to the company’s financial management and strategic financial planning.

The shortlisted candidates will appear before PESB as part of the process to identify the next executive to occupy the position.

BEML Director (Mining & Construction Business) Interviews on August 11

A day later, on August 11, PESB will conduct interviews for the post of Director (Mining & Construction Business), BEML Limited.

BEML is a major public sector enterprise involved in the manufacture of heavy equipment and machinery for sectors including mining, construction and other strategic applications.

The Director (Mining & Construction Business) is a key functional role within the company, with the position linked to the performance and growth of BEML’s mining and construction equipment business.

The shortlisted aspirants will be assessed by the PESB board during the scheduled selection interviews.

BCCL Director (Personnel) Interview on August 13

The four-part selection schedule will conclude with the interview for the post of Director (Personnel), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) on August 13, 2026.

Candidates shortlisted for the position will appear before PESB for evaluation for the senior personnel function.

BCCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, operates in the coking coal sector, making the Director (Personnel) position important for managing human resources and personnel-related functions within the company.

Four Director-Level Vacancies Across Strategic Sectors

The latest PESB schedule brings together senior-level selections across four important areas of India’s public sector economy.

  • Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL): Director (Operations) — Interview on August 8, 2026
  • Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL): Director (Finance) — Interview on August 10, 2026
  • BEML Limited: Director (Mining & Construction Business) — Interview on August 11, 2026
  • Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL): Director (Personnel) — Interview on August 13, 2026

The scheduled interviews underline PESB’s continuing role in selecting senior leadership for India’s CPSEs. The four positions span operational, financial, business and personnel functions, covering enterprises that are significant to India’s defence manufacturing, steel production, heavy equipment and coal sectors.

PESB’s Role in CPSE Leadership Selection

The Public Enterprises Selection Board is responsible for recommending candidates for senior management positions in Central Public Sector Enterprises. Its selection process is aimed at identifying suitable leadership for key executive positions in public sector companies.

The shortlisted candidates for the four posts will now face the selection board according to the finalized August schedule. Following the interview process and subsequent stages, PESB will make its recommendations for the respective Director-level appointments.

With interviews scheduled within a span of less than a week, the process is set to bring the four senior-level CPSE selections into focus during the second week of August.
