PESB Recommends PLSS Chaitanya Prakash as Director (Power) of NLC India Limited

DVC Executive Director selected from 11 candidates for key PSU power leadership role; appointment awaits ACC approval

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended PLSS Chaitanya Prakash for the position of Director (Power) at NLC India Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Coal. The recommendation was made during the selection meeting held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Chaitanya Prakash, who is currently serving as Executive Director (Operations) at Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), has been selected from a competitive panel of senior executives drawn from leading Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs).

The final appointment will now require approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).

PESB Selection Meeting Details

The PESB conducted its Selection Meeting No. 44/2026, where a total of 11 senior PSU executives were interviewed for the prestigious board-level position. Candidates came from major organizations including NLC India Limited, DVC, NTPC, BHEL, and SAIL.

After evaluating the experience, leadership profiles, and operational expertise of the candidates, the PESB recommended PLSS Chaitanya Prakash for the role.

The following senior executives appeared before the PESB panel:

  1. Mr. Santhosh C S – Executive Director, Project Head, NLC India Limited
  2. Mr. Duraikumar S – Executive Director & CEO, NUPPL, NLC India Limited
  3. Mr. Kausheeika Subrramaniam C – Chief General Manager, TPS-2 (2nd Expansion), NLC India Limited
  4. Mr. Murugan A – General Manager, NLC India Limited
  5. Mr. Santhoshkumar – General Manager, NUPPL, NLC India Limited
  6. Mr. Arun Kumar Saxena – GM, Kerandari Coal Mining Project, NTPC Limited
  7. Mr. Ajay Saxena – General Manager, Project Director, BHEL
  8. Mr. Ajay Sharma – Chief General Manager (Power), SAIL
  9. Mr. Bikash Mishra – GM & Project Director, TGGENCO 5×800 MW Yadadri, BHEL
  10. Mr. P L S S Chaitanya Prakash – Executive Director (Operations), DVC
  11. Mr. Manoj Kumar Thakur – Executive Director, Contracts & Material Management, DVC

The selection process reflected strong competition among experienced leaders from India’s key power, mining, and engineering PSUs.

Role and Responsibilities of Director (Power), NLC India

As Director (Power) of NLC India Limited, PLSS Chaitanya Prakash will become a member of the company’s Board of Directors. The position carries significant responsibility for managing and expanding the company’s power generation portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing operations and maintenance of thermal power plants
  • Managing expansion and commissioning of power projects
  • Supervising power station engineering and technical functions
  • Driving operational efficiency and performance improvements
  • Coordinating with regulatory and statutory authorities
  • Supporting capacity addition and strategic growth in the power sector

His leadership will be critical in strengthening NLC India’s position in both conventional and expanding energy segments.

Next Step: ACC Approval

Following the PESB recommendation, the proposal will be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval. The appointment will be formally confirmed after receiving clearance from the central government.
