NLC India Signs MoU with IIT(ISM) TEXMiN to Boost Critical Mineral Exploration Under National Mission

Partnership to advance research, beneficiation, and sustainable mining of strategic minerals aligned with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat goals.

New Delhi: NLC India Limited has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TEXMiN to strengthen India’s capabilities in critical and strategic mineral exploration, beneficiation, and research.

The collaboration aligns with India’s National Critical Mineral Mission and aims to reduce dependence on imported critical minerals essential for clean energy and advanced technologies.

MoU Signed in Neyveli to Strengthen Mineral Ecosystem

The MoU was signed on 26 May 2026 at Neyveli in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

The partnership focuses on developing advanced research and technology solutions for India’s growing demand for critical and strategic minerals.

Focus on Critical and Strategic Minerals

Under this collaboration, NLC India Limited will work with TEXMiN to strengthen key areas such as:

  • Exploration of critical and strategic minerals
  • Participation in auctioned mineral blocks
  • Acquisition of mineral assets in India and overseas
  • Research on rare earth elements (REEs) from secondary sources such as overburden, lignite, coal, and mine tailings

This initiative supports India’s long-term goal of securing domestic mineral resources for industrial and energy needs.

Boost to Research, Innovation, and Mining Technology

The partnership will focus on strengthening innovation in the mining sector through:

  • Advanced mineral exploration technologies
  • Improved beneficiation and extraction processes
  • Research on rare earth and trace elements
  • Sustainable mining practices
  • Knowledge sharing in mineral development

TEXMiN will play a key role in providing scientific expertise and innovation support, while NLC India brings field experience in mining and resource development.

Alignment with National Vision

The collaboration is aligned with major national initiatives, including:

  • Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India)

  • National Critical Mineral Mission
