Kolkata: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has facilitated the completion of skill-development training for 54 candidates from the seventh batch at its Skill Development Centre (SDC) in Malda, West Bengal, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The programme was attended by POWERGRID officials and other stakeholders, including Executive Director Adish Kumar Gupta, Chief General Manager (AM) Arun Kumar Singh and Head of Personnel, ER-II, Sandeep Kumar Barik.
330 Candidates Trained at Malda Centre
Since its establishment, the Skill Development Centre at Malda has trained 330 candidates across seven batches.

The programme provides industry-relevant training along with support facilities for youth from the region.
Training and placement milestones
- 330 candidates trained up to the seventh batch.

- 165 trainees have been placed in various organisations.
- 29 candidates from the seventh batch are among those placed.
Trainees Placed Across Multiple Sectors
The trainees have secured placements in organisations operating across the power, transmission, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.

Certificates and Appointment Letters Distributed
During the programme, senior officials distributed course-completion certificates and job appointment letters to successful trainees.
POWERGRID said several candidates had already started their careers, while others were scheduled to begin employment with their respective organisations.
Focus on Skill Development and Employment
The programme is part of POWERGRID’s CSR efforts focused on skill development, youth empowerment and sustainable livelihood generation.
The company said the Skill Development Centre is designed to provide industry-relevant skills and support employment opportunities for youth, particularly in sectors linked to power and infrastructure.
