New Delhi: In a key administrative appointment, IAS officer Prashant Kumar Mishra (IAS:2014:KN) has been appointed as the Private Secretary (PS) to Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil.
The appointment, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, has been made at the Deputy Secretary level in the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
DoPT Order Confirms Appointment and Tenure
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on April 22, 2026, Mishra will serve in the position for a total tenure of five years, up to March 15, 2031.
However, his tenure will be:
- Co-terminus with the minister, or
- Until he ceases to function as OSD/PS, or
- Until further orders
—whichever is earlier.
To facilitate his new role, Mishra’s current assignment as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the same minister has been curtailed. Notably, he had assumed charge as OSD on March 15, 2026.
