Bengaluru: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU, has appointed Partha Pratim Pathak as a Non-Official Director (Independent Director) on its Board for a period of three years.
The appointment is effective from August 18, 2026, and has been made by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, through a letter dated August 17, 2026.
BEL’s Board appointed Pathak as an Additional Director (Independent Director) through a circular resolution.

Pathak Brings Experience in Waste Management and Sustainability
Partha Pratim Pathak is the Promoter and Managing Director of Fresh Air Waste Management Services Private Limited and a Director of Forcetech Energy Private Limited.
He has built his professional career around sustainable development, waste management and environmental initiatives.
In 2004, Pathak established the first Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility (CBWTF) in Northeast India, marking an important step in strengthening biomedical waste management infrastructure in the region.
He has also expanded his work into plastic waste recycling through Forcetech Engineering.
Role in Biomedical Waste Management Rules
Pathak has contributed to the development of India’s biomedical waste management framework and played a role in the formulation of the Biomedical Waste Management Rules, 2016.
He has also held leadership positions in industry and sectoral organisations, including:
- President, Laghu Udyog Bharati, Purvottar Chapter
- President, CBWTF Association of India
His experience in entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability and waste management adds a multidisciplinary perspective to the BEL Board.
BEL Confirms Regulatory Compliance
BEL has confirmed that Pathak has no relationship with any other Director of the company.
The company has also stated that:
- He is not debarred from holding the office of Director by any SEBI order or other statutory authority.
- He is not disqualified under Section 164 of the Companies Act, 2013.
- His appointment complies with applicable regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
The required disclosures under Regulation 30, along with the relevant provisions of the SEBI Listing Regulations and applicable SEBI circulars, have also been provided by the company.
New Appointment Adds Diverse Expertise to BEL Board
The appointment brings experience in sustainable development, environmental management, waste treatment and entrepreneurship to the Board of the defence PSU.
Pathak’s background in developing waste management infrastructure and his involvement in industry associations could provide an additional perspective on sustainability and responsible business practices at the company.
