Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday said 76.11 lakh women have registered under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, with ₹2,381 crore already transferred to the accounts of 68.06 lakh beneficiaries.

The scheme provides monthly financial assistance to women across the state, with different amounts for general-category and Scheduled Caste beneficiaries.

76 Lakh Women Registered Under Scheme

According to Mann, the scheme has reached more than 76 lakh women across Punjab. Of the registered beneficiaries, over 68 lakh have already received financial assistance.

Under the scheme:

  • General-category women receive ₹1,000 per month.
  • Scheduled Caste women receive ₹1,500 per month.

Mann said the government launched the scheme with a focus on recognising the dignity and respect of women and providing them with regular financial support.

₹2,381 Crore Transferred to Beneficiaries

The Punjab government has transferred ₹2,381 crore directly into the accounts of 68.06 lakh women so far.

Mann said the financial assistance may not make women wealthy, but it can contribute to their dignity and self-respect by providing them with direct financial support.

He also said the government’s commitment to women’s welfare would remain firm and that the scheme would continue as long as the AAP remains in power in Punjab.

Satkar Sakhis Receive Financial Incentives

The scheme’s implementation has also created an earning opportunity for Satkar Sakhis, who have helped women register across the state.

Mann said ₹52.20 crore has been transferred to the accounts of 1.37 lakh Satkar Sakhis for their contribution.

Each Satkar Sakhi will receive ₹300 for every registration. According to the Chief Minister, this could enable them to collectively earn more than ₹200 crore through the initiative.

Mann credited the Satkar Sakhis with playing an important role in taking the scheme to women across Punjab and helping registrations cross the 75-lakh mark.

Focus on Women’s Welfare

Addressing the gathering virtually, Mann said the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna reflects the government’s focus on women’s welfare and dignity.

The monthly assistance provides beneficiaries with a recurring source of financial support. The large registration base also indicates the extensive reach of the scheme across Punjab.

Punjab AAP women’s wing president and MLA Amandeep Kaur also praised the contribution of Satkar Sakhis and members of the women’s wing.

She said their role went beyond helping women fill out forms, as they were also providing support and helping beneficiaries access the government initiative.

Direct Support for Women

The scale of registrations and fund transfers makes the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna a significant women-focused welfare programme in Punjab.

With more than 76 lakh registrations and ₹2,381 crore already transferred, the scheme combines direct financial assistance with a grassroots network of Satkar Sakhis.

The initiative also highlights the role of local outreach in expanding access to welfare schemes. For participating Satkar Sakhis, the registration-based incentive provides an additional economic opportunity.
