Rourkela: SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has honoured 30 personnel from its Safety Engineering and Fire Services departments under the SAIL Shabash Award scheme for their notable contributions to workplace safety and plant operations.
The awards were presented during a ceremony held at the Samagam Conference Hall on August 25, 2026.
30 RSP Personnel Recognised for Safety Contributions
The award ceremony recognised employees who have made significant contributions towards maintaining and improving safety standards at the plant.
Hiralal Mahapatra, CGM (Safety & Fire Services), presided over the programme and presented the awards to the selected personnel.
Senior officials from the concerned departments also attended the event, including:
- P. S. Thakare, GM In-charge (Fire Services)
- B. K. Padhy, AGM (Safety Engineering Department)

Addressing the award recipients, Hiralal Mahapatra congratulated the employees for their achievements and highlighted the importance of recognising personnel who contribute to improving workplace safety.
He said such recognition can motivate individuals and teams to maintain stronger safety performance and encourage a continued focus on safe working practices.
The event also conveyed a message to other employees to actively contribute towards improving safety standards and strengthening the overall performance of Rourkela Steel Plant.

The programme began with a welcome address by B. K. Padhy, while Abhishek Rai, Junior Fire Operator, coordinated the event.
The ceremony brought together officials and employees to recognise workplace safety efforts and reinforce the importance of safety-conscious operations across the plant.
