Patratu: Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) organised its first Ash User Meet for Local Users and Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs) 2026 at NSB Hall, Patratu.
The programme aimed to create awareness among local industries, entrepreneurs and MSEs about the productive utilisation of fly ash and bottom ash and encourage greater participation in ash utilisation initiatives.
The event brought together PVUNL officials, local industries, entrepreneurs, technical experts and representatives of Micro & Small Enterprises to discuss opportunities related to ash-based products and applications.
PVUNL Highlights Sustainable Ash Utilisation
The programme was inaugurated by Ashok Kumar Sehgal, CEO, PVUNL, along with Arun Kumar Singh, GM (O&M); R.K. Niranjan, GM (Maintenance); and Prashant Pandurang Patil, GM (Operation & FM) through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
The dignitaries highlighted the importance of sustainable ash utilisation and the role of local industries in converting ash into a productive resource.
Addressing the gathering, Ashok Kumar Sehgal emphasised PVUNL’s commitment to the inclusive growth of the local community through responsible and productive utilisation of ash.
He said that promoting the use of fly ash by local industries could create opportunities for:
- Employment generation
- Entrepreneurship
- Sustainable livelihoods
- Development of ash-based products and businesses
- Greater participation of local industries and MSMEs
He also reiterated PVUNL’s commitment to achieving 100% ash utilisation through productive and environmentally sustainable applications.

PVUNL to Facilitate Ash Availability for Local Users
Sehgal encouraged local industries, entrepreneurs, MSMEs and other stakeholders to actively participate in ash utilisation initiatives and explore opportunities for developing ash-based products.
He further stated that PVUNL would facilitate ease of business for eligible local users and industries by making ash available from the ash mound, subject to applicable guidelines and procedures.
He highlighted that greater participation from local stakeholders could create a mutually beneficial ecosystem supporting environmental sustainability, strengthening local industries and contributing to the economic development of surrounding communities.
Officials Highlight Innovative Use of Ash
Arun Kumar Singh, GM (O&M), and R.K. Niranjan, GM (Ash Utilisation & Maintenance), also emphasised the need for effective and innovative utilisation of ash.
They highlighted the importance of exploring new applications that can help convert fly ash and bottom ash into useful resources while supporting sustainable industrial practices.
Shivam Singh, Secretary, Jharkhand Small Industries Association, also addressed the gathering and highlighted the potential of ash utilisation to strengthen local industries and create new opportunities for MSMEs.
He encouraged entrepreneurs and industrial units to explore emerging opportunities in the growing market for ash-based products and applications.
Technical Session Focuses on Ash-Based Applications
A technical session was conducted by C. Pandey, AGM (NI), NTPC Raipur, who shared insights into ash utilisation, its various applications and opportunities available for industries and other users.
N. Kalidas, Director, INSWAREB, joined the programme online and shared his expertise on the utilisation of fly ash and bottom ash. He highlighted the scope for innovative and sustainable applications of ash.
The technical discussions helped participants understand the potential uses of ash and the opportunities available for developing products and businesses based on ash utilisation.
Over 70 Participants Attend PVUNL Ash User Meet
More than 70 participants attended the Ash User Meet, including members of JSLPS Self Help Groups, block tile manufacturers, brick makers and other local entrepreneurs from nearby areas and villages.
The event provided a common platform for PVUNL, local industries, MSEs, entrepreneurs and technical experts to exchange knowledge and explore opportunities for collaboration.
The meet also aimed to encourage local stakeholders to participate more actively in ash utilisation initiatives and explore sustainable business opportunities linked to fly ash and bottom ash.
