Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has recently carried out raids in four locations across Rajasthan on in connection with a disproportionate assets case against the Kota Divisional Commissioner, IAS Rajendra Vijay. During the raid, the ACB conducted searches at two locations in Kota and one in Jaipur for around eight hours. Apart from this, Officer Vijay’s ancestral house in Dausa has also been sealed.

Under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police of ACB, IPS Kaluram Rawat (2008 batch), and Additional Superintendent of Police Pushpendra Singh Rathore, a search warrant was obtained from the competent court and various teams conducted searches at four different locations of the accused in Jaipur, Kota and Dausa.

The ACB claimed that during the search at the IAS officer’s Jaipur residence, documents of 13 residential and commercial plots, including a “luxurious” house on Tonk Road and a commercial showroom of a leading garment brand at a prime location in Ashok Marg, C Scheme, Jaipur, were found.

What Has The ACB Seized Thus Far?

The ACB team found Rs 2.22 lakh in cash, 335 grams of gold ornaments, 11.8 kg of silver jewellery, three four-wheelers and documents of 13 commercial and residential plots. The raid was further sensationalised after the ACB found 16 bank accounts linked to Vijay. The team also found several insurance policy documents and details of a bank locker, which is yet to be searched.

ACB Director General, IPS Ravi Prakash Meharda (1990 batch), said that the agency had received information that the IAS officer had acquired movable and immovable assets in his name and in the name of his family members allegedly through corruption and that their estimated market value is in several crores of rupees. The input was verified by the Intelligence Branch of the ACB and on confirmation of the facts, a case was lodged by the agency.

As of now, the Rajasthan government has removed IAS Vijay from the post and put him under ‘Awaiting Posting Order’ status, making it the third time that IAS Vijay was put under the APO status. Officer Rajendra Vijay, a 2020-batch promotee IAS officer, assumed charge as the divisional commissioner of Kota on September 25th. He had served as the collector of Baran and Balotra earlier.
