Lucknow: Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh credited Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with supporting development initiatives in the state capital, saying coordination between the Centre and state governments can accelerate development.
Singh was speaking at an event where he and Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone for 12 development projects worth around ₹101 crore in the Lucknow Cantonment area.
Singh Highlights Centre-State Coordination
Addressing the gathering, Singh said the Chief Minister had extended support to development works in Lucknow and reviewed them periodically.

“He did everything he promised.”
Singh also said, “When the thinking of the central and state governments are aligned, the pace of development naturally increases manifold.”
He said the Uttar Pradesh government, Ministry of Defence and industry were working together on development initiatives and expressed the view that the state would continue to set benchmarks in development and governance.
₹101 Crore Projects for Lucknow Cantonment
The 12 projects are part of plans to improve civic amenities and infrastructure in Lucknow Cantonment. The projects include facilities related to sports, education, water supply, parking and public amenities.
According to Singh, the package includes:
- A sports complex
- A school for children with disabilities
- Additional classrooms in two schools
- Replacement of old water pipelines and construction of overhead water tanks
- Robotic car parking
- A city polyclinic at Ekta Bazaar
- Launch of the Chief Minister Abhyudaya Yojana at Mangla Devi School, with support from the Uttar Pradesh government
Cantonment Building Rules Revised
Singh also highlighted changes in building regulations in cantonment areas, including Lucknow. Under the revised norms, construction can now go up to stilt + ground + three floors, compared with the earlier provision of ground plus two floors.
He said regulations need to adapt as the requirements of cities and residents change.
Yogi Links Lucknow’s Development With Vajpayee’s Vision
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath credited Rajnath Singh with contributing to the development of Lucknow and referred to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision for the city.
He highlighted the contrast between Lucknow’s older neighbourhoods and newer infrastructure such as CM GRIDS smart roads and Kisan Path, while emphasising the city’s development alongside its existing heritage.
Focus on Armed Forces and Military Education
Yogi also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s contribution to the armed forces and referred to the state’s long association with military education.
He said the state’s Sainik Schools and other institutions have played a role in preparing young people for careers and responsibilities connected with the country’s security.
