Ranchi: The Ranchi Railway Division has announced a major infrastructure upgrade plan involving the construction of seven new foot overbridges (FOBs) and the expansion of two existing FOBs across multiple stations. The project, aimed at improving passenger safety and mobility, will be executed at an estimated cost of ₹30 crore.

New Foot Overbridges Planned at Seven Stations

New foot overbridges will be constructed at the following railway stations:

  • Tatisilwai
  • Tulin
  • Tangarbasli
  • Silli
  • Namkum
  • Jhalida
  • Ramgarh Cantonment

These stations currently experience high passenger movement, especially during peak travel hours.

Expansion of Existing Foot Overbridges

In addition to new constructions, the existing foot overbridges at:

  • Orga Railway Station
  • Govindpur Railway Station

will be expanded to improve passenger flow and reduce congestion during platform changes.

Focus on Passenger Safety and Smooth Movement

Railway officials stated that the primary objective of the project is to ensure:

  • Safe movement of passengers across platforms
  • Elimination of track crossing risks
  • Improved crowd management during train arrivals and departures
  • Better accessibility for elderly, women, and children

At present, passengers at several small stations often cross tracks directly, increasing the risk of accidents. The new infrastructure is expected to eliminate this hazard.

₹30 Crore Investment for Modern Railway Infrastructure

The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹30 crore, with completion targeted by the end of the 2026–27 financial year.

Key features of the construction plan include:

  • Modern design standards
  • Strong and durable structures
  • Improved passenger facilities and circulation areas

Additional Development Works in Ranchi Division

The Ranchi Division is also actively working on other infrastructure improvements, including:

  • Doubling of the Ranchi–Orga railway line
  • Upgradation of passenger amenities at various stations
  • Improved waiting halls and lighting systems
  • Enhanced platform development
  • Better drinking water facilities
  • Advanced passenger information systems

These upgrades aim to strengthen overall railway infrastructure in the region.

The Ranchi Railway Division is a key operational division under Indian Railways, responsible for managing rail infrastructure, passenger services, and freight movement in the region. It plays an important role in improving connectivity and ensuring safe and efficient rail operations across Jharkhand and surrounding areas.
