Who Was Retired UP PCS Officer Suresh Chandra Sharma? Father of Rajasthan DGP Rajiv Sharma Passes Away at 85

Jaipur/Noida: Suresh Chandra Sharma, a retired Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services (PCS) officer and father of Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Sharma (IPS:1990:Rajasthan), passed away on Friday morning at the age of 85. He had been undergoing treatment at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Jaipur after battling illness for several days.

Following his demise, his mortal remains were transported to Noida, where his last rites were performed on Friday evening in the presence of family members and relatives.

Passed Away While Undergoing Treatment in Jaipur

According to family sources, Suresh Chandra Sharma had been staying in Jaipur with his elder son, Rajiv Sharma, the Director General of Police (DGP), Rajasthan.

He had been admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital after his health deteriorated. Despite medical treatment, he breathed his last on Friday morning.

Last Rites Performed in Noida

After his death, the family shifted his mortal remains from Jaipur to Noida.

The cremation was conducted on Friday evening, with family members, close relatives, and well-wishers paying their final respects.

A Distinguished Career in the Uttar Pradesh PCS

Suresh Chandra Sharma had a long career in the Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services.

His final official posting before retirement was as City Magistrate, Bulandshahr. During his administrative career, he served in various capacities within the Uttar Pradesh government and earned a reputation for his dedication to public service.

After retiring from government service, he continued contributing to public welfare by serving as a Member of the Consumer Forum.

Continued Social Service After Retirement

Even after retiring from public office, Sharma remained actively associated with social causes and community welfare initiatives.

Family members and acquaintances remembered him as a disciplined administrator who remained committed to public service throughout his life.

Survived by Two Sons

Suresh Chandra Sharma is survived by his two sons:

  • Rajiv Sharma, a 1990-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, currently serving as the Director General of Police (DGP), Rajasthan.
  • Manish Sharma, a senior advocate practising in the Supreme Court of India.

His passing has been mourned by members of the administrative and police fraternity, who extended condolences to the bereaved family.
