Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav announced a new drainage project in Rewa during his inspection of flood-affected areas, aiming to improve the flow of rainwater and provide a long-term solution to waterlogging in the city.
The Chief Minister reached Rewa from New Delhi to review the flood situation. He visited affected areas, interacted with residents and took feedback on waterlogging, drainage and the difficulties faced by people.
New Drainage Link Announced
During his visit to the flood-affected Gulab Nagar area, Dr Yadav announced construction work from Acharya Nagar through the Phoolmati drain to the Amahiya drain.
The proposed drainage link is expected to make the discharge of floodwater easier and improve drainage across a large part of Rewa city.

Focus on Long-Term Flood Management
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure immediate relief and necessary arrangements for people in flood-affected areas.
At the same time, he called for faster work on an effective action plan to address the city’s recurring waterlogging problems. The focus is on improving drainage infrastructure so that heavy rainfall does not repeatedly disrupt residents.
Better Water Drainage for Rewa
The announcement comes as part of the administration’s response to the current flood situation. By improving the connection between key drainage channels, the project is expected to strengthen the city’s capacity to move excess rainwater away from vulnerable areas.
The initiative could provide relief to residents in areas that face waterlogging during periods of heavy rainfall while also strengthening Rewa’s broader flood-management infrastructure.
