Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is exploring a fresh investment pipeline across power transmission, tyre manufacturing and information technology, with RPG Group considering projects in Jabalpur, Ratlam, Sagar and Ujjain.
The possibilities were discussed during Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s meeting with RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka at the ‘Dialogue on Investment Opportunities in Madhya Pradesh’ in Mumbai.
The discussions focused on how the state’s industrial infrastructure, central location, skilled workforce and investment-friendly policies could support new projects. The proposed investments could strengthen manufacturing capacity, power infrastructure and the emerging IT ecosystem while creating opportunities for local employment and allied businesses.
Jabalpur Could Get New Transmission Investment
RPG Group has expressed interest in investing in Jabalpur in the power transmission sector.
The discussion comes against the backdrop of Madhya Pradesh’s expanding industrial and infrastructure requirements. Reliable electricity transmission remains essential for industrial clusters, urban development and new manufacturing facilities.
The group and the state government discussed the possibility of establishing new industrial facilities by leveraging Madhya Pradesh’s geographical position, workforce and existing infrastructure.
A stronger transmission ecosystem can also support the state’s broader industrial development by improving the infrastructure available to businesses and large projects.

Ratlam, Sagar and Jabalpur in Consideration for Tyre Plant
The RPG Group also discussed the possibility of establishing a tyre manufacturing unit in Madhya Pradesh.
The state’s central location and access to raw materials were among the factors considered during the discussion. Ratlam, Sagar and Jabalpur emerged as potential locations for the proposed investment.
Before taking a final decision, the group is expected to assess industrial facilities and other requirements at these locations.
A tyre manufacturing plant could have wider economic benefits beyond the factory itself. It could generate direct employment while creating demand for logistics, maintenance, transport, suppliers and other supporting services.
For Madhya Pradesh, attracting a large manufacturing unit in this sector could also strengthen the state’s position as a production and distribution base because of its central location within India.
Ujjain Offers Plug-and-Play Opportunity for IT Investment
The discussions also covered opportunities in the information technology sector, with Ujjain emerging as a potential location.
An RPG Group team is interested in visiting possible investment sites to assess infrastructure and commercial opportunities. The IT Built-up Park in Ujjain, with its plug-and-play facilities, was specifically discussed as a possible option.
Ready infrastructure can reduce the time and initial effort required for companies to establish operations. For Madhya Pradesh, attracting IT investments to cities beyond the major urban centres can support more balanced regional economic development.
An IT presence in Ujjain could also create opportunities for skilled professionals and young people while supporting businesses that provide technology, services and digital solutions.
State Offers Support Through Single-Window System
The meeting also examined the practical requirements for taking the proposed projects forward.
Discussions included suitable land, necessary approvals, investment incentives and support through the state’s single-window clearance system.
The focus was on identifying priority investment proposals and suitable locations so that the next stage of evaluation can move more efficiently.
For large investors, predictable approvals and access to industrial infrastructure can be important factors when deciding where to establish new facilities.
RPG Group Has Long Association With Madhya Pradesh
The potential investments build on the RPG Group’s longstanding connection with Madhya Pradesh.
The group has had a presence in the state since 1951 through RPG Transmission Limited. Its businesses include infrastructure, mobility, tyres, information technology, pharmaceuticals, energy solutions and emerging technologies.
Major RPG Group companies include KEC International, CEAT and Zensar Technologies.
The group has a presence across more than 135 countries on six continents, giving it experience across infrastructure, manufacturing and technology markets.
KEC International has also contributed to Madhya Pradesh’s power transmission infrastructure, including the Neemuch Inter-State Transmission System.
This existing relationship could provide a foundation for expanding the group’s footprint in the state.
Why These Investments Matter for Madhya Pradesh
The significance of the proposals lies in their spread across three sectors that are important for the state’s next phase of development.
Power transmission investment can strengthen the infrastructure needed by industries and growing urban areas. A tyre manufacturing facility can expand the manufacturing base and create jobs across the wider supply chain. IT investment can support the state’s digital economy and provide new opportunities for skilled youth.
The four locations under discussion also offer a regional development angle. Rather than concentrating new investment in a single industrial centre, projects in Jabalpur, Ratlam, Sagar and Ujjain could distribute economic activity across different parts of Madhya Pradesh.
The discussions with RPG Group therefore represent more than individual investment proposals. If the projects move forward, they could add manufacturing capacity, strengthen infrastructure, support local employment and expand the state’s technology ecosystem.
For Madhya Pradesh, the immediate priority will be to convert these investment discussions into concrete project proposals through site assessments, feasibility studies and required approvals. A successful outcome could further strengthen the state’s position as a destination for diversified industrial and technology investment.
