Noida: NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility, concluded its flagship Electron Quiz 2026-27 on October 8, with teams from IIT Madras securing the top two positions at the national level.
The quiz, aimed at promoting curiosity, learning and fresh thinking among young minds, began on September 5 with the regional round in Lucknow and culminated in the National Finale in Noida.
The competition was conducted across nine regional locations, with more than 1,100 teams participating in this year’s edition.
IIT Madras Teams Secure Top Two Positions
At the Grand Finale, Advik Kabra and Ashish Cherian Thannickal of IIT Madras emerged as the national champions.
The top three teams were:
- First Position: Advik Kabra and Ashish Cherian Thannickal, IIT Madras
- Second Position: Sreeram Madhavan V and Ishaan Joshi, IIT Madras
- Third Position: Waqar Moid and Parth Arya Bhat, IIT Kanpur
The winning team received a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, while the second- and third-placed teams were awarded ₹60,000 and ₹40,000, respectively.
Teams securing the fourth, fifth and sixth positions received ₹16,000 each, while the remaining 12 teams received ₹8,000 each.

Over 1,100 Teams Participate in Electron Quiz
The 2026-27 edition of the NTPC Electron Quiz was organised across nine cities:
- Lucknow
- Patna
- Ranchi
- Raipur
- Mumbai
- Chennai
- Hyderabad
- Kolkata
- Noida
More than 1,100 teams participated in the competition, making this year’s edition one of the largest in the history of the NTPC Electron Quiz.
At the regional level, the winning teams received ₹60,000, while the second- and third-placed teams were awarded ₹40,000 and ₹20,000, respectively.
Teams finishing fourth, fifth and sixth received ₹8,000 each.
NTPC HR Director Encourages Students to Embrace Learning
Anil Kumar Jadli, Director (Human Resources), NTPC, attended the National Finale and congratulated the winning teams.
He also appreciated the enthusiasm and participation of all the students and encouraged them to carry forward the spirit of learning and curiosity in their future endeavours.
Speaking about NTPC’s own transformation journey, Jadli highlighted how the company is moving beyond its traditional identity as a power generation company and evolving into an integrated energy major.
He encouraged the participating students to adopt a similar spirit of transformation, adaptability and continuous learning in their own lives and careers.

Electron Quiz Promotes Business and Management Learning
Organised since 2004, the NTPC Electron Quiz is a flagship initiative aimed at promoting learning, intellectual growth and healthy competition among students.
The 2026-27 edition was held under the theme “The World of Business & Management.”
Over the years, the quiz has expanded in scale and stature, providing students from institutions across the country with a platform to:
- Expand their knowledge.
- Develop curiosity and intellectual skills.
- Compete with students from leading institutions.
- Explore business and management concepts.
- Learn through a competitive and engaging format.
Senior NTPC Officials Attend National Finale
Several senior NTPC officials, employees and students from different institutions attended the National Finale to encourage the participating teams.
Those present included S. N. Panigrahi, Executive Director (HR), and Premlata, Executive Director (Strategic HRD & Talent Development), along with other senior executives and employees of NTPC.
The presence of students and officials from various institutions added to the competitive and learning-focused atmosphere of the event.
NTPC Continues to Expand Beyond Conventional Power
The Electron Quiz was organised against the backdrop of NTPC’s broader transformation across the energy sector.
The company is expanding beyond conventional power generation into emerging areas such as:
- Renewable energy
- Battery energy storage
- Nuclear power
- Carbon capture
- Green chemicals
NTPC has set a target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 as part of its efforts to support India’s evolving energy requirements.
