New Delhi: State-owned railway PSU Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has announced that it has secured a major railway infrastructure project worth ₹358.97 crore from East Central Railway.
According to the exchange filing, RVNL has emerged as the Lowest Bidder (L1) for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract related to the doubling of the Sitamarhi-Raxaul railway section in the Samastipur Division of East Central Railway.
The project is expected to strengthen railway connectivity and improve operational capacity on the important rail corridor.
Project Covers 41.04 Km Railway Doubling Work
The project involves construction and development work on a 41.04 km railway stretch between:
- Kundawa Chainpur (excluding)
- Raxaul (excluding)
The work is part of the doubling project of the Sitamarhi-Raxaul section and has been planned according to 25-tonne Indian Railway Standard Loading requirements.

Scope of Work Under EPC Contract
The project includes several major railway infrastructure activities, such as:
- Earthwork and track formation development
- Blanketing work
- Construction of minor bridges
- Construction of major bridges
- Station buildings and other structures
- Platform development work
- Level Crossing (LC) works
- Other miscellaneous railway infrastructure works
The project will help enhance railway capacity and support smoother movement of passenger and freight trains.
Project Completion Timeline Set at 1,095 Days
RVNL will be required to complete the project within a period of 1,095 days from the commencement of work.
The contract value of the project is ₹358.97 crore.
The order adds to RVNL’s growing portfolio of railway infrastructure projects across India.

The company continues to undertake large-scale projects involving railway track development, electrification, bridges, stations, and other infrastructure works across the country.
