Bhopal: In a strong message emphasizing simplicity and discipline in public life, MP CM Mohan Yadav has issued a show-cause notice to Saubhagya Singh, the newly appointed Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Textbook Corporation, after he reportedly led a convoy of nearly 200 vehicles while assuming office.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has also revoked Singh’s administrative and financial powers with immediate effect, pending the final outcome of the matter.

200-Vehicle Convoy Sparks Controversy

Saubhagya Singh recently came under public scrutiny after videos and photographs of a large vehicle rally accompanying him during his assumption of charge went viral on media and social media platforms.

According to a letter issued by the CMO, the state government viewed the event as a serious breach of official conduct and government guidelines.

The order stated that such a large convoy represented:

  • Waste of national resources
  • Violation of principles of simplicity in public life
  • Conduct inconsistent with accountability and collective responsibility

The government described the episode as a case of “grave indiscipline.”

Administrative and Financial Powers Withdrawn

Pending final adjudication, Saubhagya Singh has been stripped of all administrative and financial authority related to the corporation.

Under the order, he will not be permitted to:

  • Exercise any administrative or financial powers
  • Participate in decision-making processes
  • Preside over or attend official meetings of the corporation
  • Issue directions to employees
  • Use corporation vehicles, staff, or other resources
  • Access official office facilities and premises for administrative purposes

CM Mohan Yadav Emphasizes Discipline and Accountability

Mohan Yadav reiterated that his government places the highest importance on:

  • Simplicity in public life
  • Accountability
  • Administrative discipline
  • Responsible use of public resources

The Chief Minister made it clear that any action undermining the dignity of public office would be dealt with firmly.

Why the Action Is Significant

The swift action against Saubhagya Singh sends a strong signal that the Madhya Pradesh government intends to enforce strict standards of conduct among political appointees and public office holders.

The decision also underscores the administration’s focus on curbing displays of extravagance and promoting a culture of austerity and responsible governance.
