New Delhi: In a significant bureaucratic development, the Government of India has appointed Shailesh Bansal (IP&TA&FS: 2011) as Director in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for a period of five years. The appointment was formalized through an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on Thursday.
The selection comes under the Central Staffing Scheme, with Bansal set to serve either for five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

According to the official order issued by the DoPT, Shailesh Bansal, who was recommended for central deputation by the Department of Telecommunications, has been selected for the Director-level post in the UPSC, New Delhi.
The notification—part of a series of appointments and recommendations released on April 23, 2026—confirms that Bansal’s appointment aligns with standard central deputation norms. His tenure will officially begin upon assuming charge of the post.
