New Delhi: The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. (SCI) celebrated its 65th anniversary on October 2, 2026, at the Ballard Pier Downtown Experience Centre in Mumbai, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey and its contribution to India’s maritime sector.

Captain Singh was recognised for commanding the vessel during its safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz, marking a notable achievement for Indian shipping.
LPG Shivalik was identified as the first Indian-flagged very large gas carrier (VLGC) to safely transit the strategically important waterway.
