The gathering brought together members of the public as well as political and social figures. The administration has also made extensive arrangements for security, traffic management and crowd control in view of the expected turnout.

Sudivya Kumar Sonu passed away on September 6. His last rites were performed in Giridih with state honours following his death. The Dwadasa and Shradh ceremony is being held on September 17.

The presence of the Chief Minister and other senior leaders at the Dwadasa ceremony reflects the significance of the occasion for the late minister’s family, colleagues and supporters.

Kalpana Soren Reviewed Arrangements

Before the ceremony, Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife and Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren reached Giridih and reviewed preparations at the programme venue and at Sudivya Kumar Sonu’s residence.

District administration officials were also present during her visit. The preparations focused on ensuring that the large gathering could be managed smoothly and that visitors could pay their respects in an orderly manner.

The ceremony venue at Utsav Upvan has been prepared to accommodate the expected crowd. Four large pandals have been erected, with two of them providing seating arrangements for more than 2,500 people at a time.

Separate areas have also been prepared for people coming to pay tribute to the late minister.

Security Arrangements Strengthened

The large gathering and movement of senior leaders prompted the Giridih administration to strengthen security arrangements across the city.

Additional police personnel have been deployed at important intersections and other key locations. Officials are also monitoring arrangements at the venue and surrounding areas to manage the movement of visitors and VIPs.

Six locations have been identified for parking to help manage the flow of vehicles around the ceremony venue. Senior district officials have been reviewing security, traffic and crowd-management arrangements.

The administration had also made specific traffic arrangements for September 17. Heavy goods vehicles have been restricted from entering and moving through Giridih’s urban area from 9 am until 11:59 pm to manage the expected increase in traffic and crowd movement.

Large Gathering at Utsav Upvan

The arrangements at Utsav Upvan have been planned keeping the expected turnout in mind. Along with seating areas, separate spaces have been created for people wishing to offer tributes.

The event has attracted local residents, supporters and party workers who have gathered to remember Sudivya Kumar Sonu.

Reports ahead of the ceremony indicated that a large number of people were expected to attend, with the administration preparing for significant footfall.

The crowd and VIP movement have also required close coordination between the district administration and police authorities. Officials have been continuously reviewing arrangements to ensure that the programme proceeds peacefully.

Sudivya Kumar Sonu’s Final Rites

Sudivya Kumar Sonu died on September 6 in Giridih. His death was followed by widespread mourning in the district, with supporters and well-wishers reaching the hospital and his residence to pay their respects.

His last rites were subsequently conducted with state honours in Giridih. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had also attended the final journey and paid his respects to the late minister.

The September 17 Dwadasa and Shradh ceremony has provided another opportunity for family members, political colleagues, supporters and local residents to pay their respects.

The extensive arrangements made for the ceremony also underline the need for coordinated crowd management when large public gatherings take place. For the administration, ensuring safe movement, adequate parking and security remains a key priority while allowing people to participate in the ceremony.
