Leadership Update: Sujith V. Surendran Joins as General Manager (Projects) to Lead Renewable Energy Initiatives at IREDA

Sujith V. Surendran, with 21+ years of experience and a background in electrical engineering, joins IREDA as General Manager (Projects) to strengthen project execution in India’s renewable energy sector.

New Delhi: The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) has appointed Sujith V. Surendran as General Manager (Projects), effective September 1, 2025, as part of its Senior Management Personnel.

Surendran brings with him over 21 years of professional experience, having previously served at NTPC Limited, one of India’s leading public sector power companies. His addition to IREDA is expected to bolster the agency’s growing portfolio of renewable energy projects and enhance execution efficiency.

Educational Background

Sujith V. Surendran holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kerala and a Postgraduate degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad.

Strategic Appointment

His appointment aligns with IREDA’s continued focus on expanding India’s clean energy infrastructure and accelerating the nation’s energy transition. As General Manager (Projects), Surendran will be responsible for overseeing key renewable energy initiatives under IREDA’s mandate.

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) is a public sector non-banking financial institution under the Indian government’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), established in 1987 to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. As a “Navratna” enterprise, it provides financial assistance for renewable energy projects like solar and wind power, focusing on innovative financing schemes and sustainable development.
