Patna: The Bihar Home Department has ordered a police reshuffle involving five officers, including four IPS officers. The most significant change is the removal of IPS officer Bhanu Pratap Singh from his position as Superintendent of Police (SP), Khagaria, following the controversy surrounding his marital dispute with his wife, Pooja Singh.
Bhanu Pratap Singh has been directed to report to the Bihar Police Headquarters with immediate effect. Shailendra Singh, who was serving as SP of Sheohar, has been appointed as the new SP of Khagaria.
Meanwhile, Muzaffarpur City SP Md. Mohibullah Ansari has been transferred and appointed as the new SP of Sheohar. The reshuffle also includes the appointment of IPS officer Aparajit as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Governor and changes in the responsibilities of other police officers.
Bhanu Pratap Singh Removed as Khagaria SP
The transfer of 2021 batch IPS officer Bhanu Pratap Singh is the most prominent development in the latest reshuffle. He has been attached to the Bihar Police Headquarters and asked to report there with immediate effect.
His removal comes amid a domestic dispute with his wife, Pooja Singh, which has attracted public attention in recent weeks. Pooja has levelled allegations of harassment against her husband and has repeatedly sought intervention from senior police and government officials over access to their six-year-old daughter.

Shailendra Singh Appointed New SP of Khagaria
2021 batch IPS officer Shailendra Singh, who was earlier serving as the Superintendent of Police of Sheohar, has been appointed as the new SP of Khagaria. He will take over the district’s police administration from Bhanu Pratap Singh.
Following his transfer, Md. Mohibullah Ansari, who was serving as City SP of Muzaffarpur, has been appointed as the new SP of Sheohar.
These two appointments bring changes to the police leadership in Khagaria and Sheohar districts.
Aparajit Appointed ADC to Governor
2020 batch IPS officer Aparajit has been appointed as the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Governor. Before this appointment, he was handling responsibilities as Commandant of Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP)-16, Patna, and SP (Law and Order), Patna.
His appointment as ADC is another key change in the latest administrative exercise.
Kumari Mamta Kalyani Gets Additional Charge
IPS officer Kumari Mamta Kalyani, who has recently been promoted, has been appointed as Commandant of BSAP-10, Patna. She has also been given additional charge as Commandant of BSAP-16, Patna.
The additional responsibility is part of the changes made in the command structure of the Bihar Special Armed Police.
Rajkishore Singh Appointed City SP of Chhapra
Rajkishore Singh, an officer of the Bihar Police Service who was serving as Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO)-1 of Patna City, has been appointed as the new City SP of Chhapra.
His appointment completes another important change in the latest police reshuffle.
What Is the Dispute Between Bhanu Pratap Singh and His Wife?
The marital dispute between Bhanu Pratap Singh and his wife, Pooja Singh, has been in the public eye since September 2026.
Pooja has alleged that her husband’s behaviour changed after he became an IPS officer and that he has been pressuring her to agree to a divorce. She has also accused him of physical assault and mental harassment and alleged that she is being prevented from meeting or speaking with their six-year-old daughter.
Seeking intervention, Pooja staged protests outside the Khagaria SP’s residence and the Chief Minister’s residence in Patna. She has also approached the Bihar State Commission for Women.
On November 2, she lodged a complaint at the Patna Women’s Police Station. According to the information available in the reports, police said on November 3 that the complaint was under investigation and no FIR had been registered at that time.
Pooja has also approached Police Headquarters, seeking intervention from the Director General of Police and other senior officials. In the latest development, she had visited the Khagaria SP’s residence but was allegedly denied entry, following which she approached the women’s police station.
