Sukma Development Boost: CM Vishnu Deo Sai Launches ₹308 Crore Projects to Transform Bastar Region

228 Projects, Hi-Tech Health Services, Women Empowerment & Livelihood Initiatives Mark Rapid Growth in Naxal-Affected Sukma

Raipur/Sukma: In a significant step toward transforming the Naxal-affected Bastar region, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated and laid the foundation for 228 development projects worth over ₹308 crore in Sukma district. The move highlights the government’s renewed focus on infrastructure, healthcare, employment, and rural empowerment in the region.

Focus on Development in Former Naxal Stronghold

Addressing a large gathering at Sukma Mini Stadium, the Chief Minister emphasized that regions affected by Naxalism for decades are now witnessing rapid transformation. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for restoring peace and enabling development in Bastar.

Out of the total projects:

  • 159 projects saw foundation stone laying
  • 69 projects were inaugurated

These initiatives aim to improve connectivity, infrastructure, and public services across Sukma.

Changing Ground Reality in Bastar Villages

Villages once known for fear and violence are now experiencing positive change. Schools are functioning regularly, and residents are actively participating in democratic processes. The government reported that over 3,000 Maoists have surrendered, with rehabilitation programs helping them reintegrate into society.

‘Mukhyamantri Swasth Bastar Abhiyan’ Boosts Healthcare Access

A major highlight of the visit was the promotion of the Mukhyamantri Swasth Bastar Abhiyan, under which:

  • 1,100 health teams will conduct door-to-door checkups
  • Services will cover 7 districts

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a Hi-Tech Atal Arogya Lab at the district hospital, enabling advanced diagnostic services locally. Patients will now receive reports directly on their mobile phones, reducing the need for travel.

Direct Engagement with Beneficiaries

CM Sai visited departmental stalls and interacted with citizens, distributing certificates and assistance:

  • 7 TB-free Panchayats were awarded
  • 28 Panchayats declared TB-free in the district
  • TB patients received nutrition support
  • Cataract patients were provided spectacles and medicines

Additionally, sub-health centers received quality certifications for improved healthcare delivery.

Support for Divyang and Blast Victims

Under social welfare initiatives:

  • 5 victims of IED blasts received artificial limbs
  • Distribution included wheelchairs, tricycles, and disability ID cards

These efforts aim to ensure inclusion and access to government benefits.

Women Empowerment and Livelihood Initiatives

Through NRLM programs, women self-help groups were encouraged to scale their income. The Chief Minister urged them to evolve from “Lakhpati Didis” to “Crorepati Didis.”

Key initiatives included:

  • Distribution of e-rickshaws to rehabilitated women
  • Promotion of self-employment opportunities
  • Job appointment letters for beneficiaries

Housing, Forest Rights, and Economic Support

The government also strengthened rural livelihoods through:

  • Interaction with beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
  • Distribution of 15 forest rights pattas
  • Financial assistance to tendu leaf collectors
  • ₹4.27 lakh support to a cooperative society

‘Niyad Nellanar 2.0’ and New Announcements

The Chief Minister announced the expansion of the Niyad Nellanar scheme, which currently covers:

  • 500+ villages
  • 45 schemes across 17 departments

The upcoming Niyad Nellanar 2.0 will extend to 10 districts, alongside new infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, bus stands, and community buildings.

Tamarind Processing Center to Boost Local Economy

A new tamarind processing center was inaugurated to support tribal communities, especially women and farmers. This initiative will:

  • Add value to forest produce
  • Increase income levels
  • Promote self-reliance in rural areas

Bastar’s Transformation: From Conflict to Confidence

Sukma, once deeply affected by Naxal violence, is now emerging as a symbol of development and trust. The visible confidence among beneficiaries reflects the growing reach of government schemes.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring:

  • Better employment opportunities
  • Improved healthcare access
  • Sustainable rural development

With peace gradually taking root, Bastar is now moving steadily toward a future defined by growth, dignity, and opportunity.
