Tamil Nadu: Major IPS Reshuffle, Asra Garg Made IGP, Chennai North Zone

In a major police reshuffle, the government of Tamil Nadu transferred several eminent IPS officers across the state. Among the transferees (18 IPS officers), notable ones are:

Mr. A Amalraj (1996 batch), last posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and Tambaram Police Commissioner, is now made ADGP of the Enforcement Bureau CID in Chennai. Mr. A Arun (1998 batch) assumed the position of Greater Chennai Police Commissioner, and Mr. Abin Dinesh Modak (1997 batch), last posted as ADGP/State Crime Records Bureau, became the ADGP and Commissioner of Tambaram Police Commissionerate.

IPS Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, formerly associated with the office of the DGP, was reassigned as ADGP of Armed Police in Chennai, replacing IPS H M Jayaram, who was mandated to assume office as the ADGP of the State Crime Records Bureau.

IPS T S Anbu, the incumbent Inspector General of Police (IGP) of CB-CID, will assume full additional charge of ADGP of CB-CID, replacing IPS G Venkatraman, who became Administration in the DGP’s office.

IPS K S Narenthiran Nayar, last posted as IGP of Chennai North Zone, was transferred and posted as IGP/ Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order-North Chennai), succeeding IPS Asra Garg (2004 batch), who became the new IGP of North Zone.

IPS Prem Anand Sinha, last posted as IGP/Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order-South Chennai) was reassigned as IGP of Madurai South Zone, succeeding IPS N Kannan, who became the IGP/ Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) for South Chennai instead.

IPS Vinit Dev Wankhade was posted as the ADGP Headquarters in the existing vacancy. IPS Sanjay Kumar was posted as ADGP of Coastal Security Group (CSG) and was replaced by IPS Sandeep Mittal. The Director-General of Police, who is now in Vacancy Reserve (VR), is posted as the DGP of the Crime Against Women and Children by upgrading the post from ADGP to DGP in the police headquarters. IPS Mahesh Kumar Agarwal is posted as the ADGP of the Armed Reserve Wing in Chennai.

IPS R Tamil Chandran is transferred and posted as technical services director by upgrading the post from IGP to ADGP. IPS B Vijayakumari was transferred and posted as the IGP of the Armed Reserve in Chennai. Mr. Praveen Kumar Abhinapu (2005 batch) and Ms. S Lakshmi (2006 batch) were posted as Commissioners of Salem City and Tirupur City, respectively.
