New Delhi: The book ‘Towards an Egalitarian Society’, authored by IRS officer Dr Sudha Kumari, was formally launched at a special event held at the auditorium of Sahitya Akademi in New Delhi on April 25, 2026.
The book, published by Alok Parv Prakashan, was unveiled in the presence of eminent dignitaries, scholars, and professionals from diverse fields.

About the Author
Dr. Sudha Kumari is a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, economist, and accomplished artist with over three decades of service in the Income Tax Department. Through her latest work, she seeks to bridge policy thinking with societal concerns, offering practical insights for a more equitable future.
Throughout her career, she has held key administrative roles across regions including Delhi, Gujarat, Bihar, and the Northeast, where she notably boosted tax collection in Mizoram from almost zero to ₹50 million in 2018. She has also contributed significantly to legal and policy work, overseeing numerous tax prosecution cases and serving on a CBDT committee.
Academically, she holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Patna University and was a UGC Junior Research Fellow, with additional training from IIM Ahmedabad and IMF-sponsored programs. Beyond her professional achievements, she is a prolific writer and painter, authoring poetry, essays, and art collections, while also contributing columns to Hindi newspapers. Originating from Bihar, she was inspired by her family to pursue civil services and later developed her passion for painting through self-learning and experimentation.
