Patna: Bihar In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Bihar government has transferred four Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, assigning them new responsibilities across key departments. The changes were notified by the General Administration Department on Sunday.
Key Changes in Raj Bhavan and Departments
Senior IAS officer Robert L. Chongthu (1997 batch), who was serving as Principal Secretary to the Governor, has been appointed as Principal Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department. He will continue in this role until further orders.
In a key appointment, Gopal Meena (2007 batch), currently serving as Secretary in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, has been named the new Secretary to the Governor. He will also hold additional charge of Vigilance Commissioner in the General Administration Department.
Mohammad Sohail Gets Expanded Responsibilities
Another 2007-batch IAS officer, Mohammad Sohail, has been assigned the role of Secretary in the General Administration Department. He will, however, continue to hold his additional charge as Inquiry Commissioner in the same department.
Officials confirmed that Mohammad Sohail will continue functioning in his existing responsibilities alongside the new assignment, ensuring continuity in administrative oversight.
New District Magistrate for Lakhisarai
As part of the reshuffle, Shailendra Kumar, Special Secretary in the Agriculture Department, has been appointed as the new District Magistrate of Lakhisarai district.
This move is expected to strengthen district-level administration and governance in the region.
Administrative Realignment
The reshuffle reflects a broader administrative realignment aimed at improving governance efficiency across departments such as Minority Welfare, General Administration, and district administration.
With experienced officers being repositioned, the state government appears focused on streamlining administrative functions and ensuring effective delivery of public services.
