Hyderabad: Investigators probing the rape case against a 2025-batch trainee IPS officer Uday Krishan Reddy have claimed to have collected substantial evidence, including digital records, financial transactions and multiple witness statements, which they say corroborate allegations made by a fellow trainee IPS officer.
The investigation has expanded beyond the complainant’s statement, with Hyderabad Police examining fellow civil service trainees, academy staff, and another woman who was allegedly in a relationship with the accused. The police have also sought custody of the accused for further interrogation, while his bail plea is scheduled to be heard by the court on Tuesday.
It is important to note that the allegations remain under investigation and have not been proven in court.
Digital Devices Seized During Investigation
According to investigators, the accused allegedly disclosed the location of his mobile phone and laptop, which were subsequently seized from his residence in Ashok Nagar.
Police officials claimed that during the seizure process, conducted in the presence of panch witnesses, the accused opened the gallery on his mobile phone.
Investigators allege that the device contained private videos and photographs of the complainant that had allegedly been recorded without her consent.
The electronic devices have been taken into custody for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
Financial Transactions Under Scanner
Investigators are also examining financial transactions between the accused and the complainant.
According to police, the woman trainee officer alleged that during an argument at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), the accused damaged her laptop.
Police said the accused subsequently transferred ₹50,000 to compensate for the damage, but the complainant immediately returned the amount.
The transaction forms part of the financial evidence being examined during the investigation.
Police Record Statements from Multiple Witnesses
The investigation has involved recording statements from a wide range of individuals connected to both the complainant and the accused.
Besides the complainant and her husband, Hyderabad Police have questioned:
- Housekeeping staff of the SVP National Police Academy
- Four trainee IPS officers
- One trainee IAS officer
- A woman who worked at an institution run by the accused’s brother
According to investigators, the statements of four trainee IPS officers who were familiar with the relationship between the complainant and the accused corroborate the complainant’s version of events.
Another Woman’s Statement Examined
Police have also recorded the statement of a woman who claimed she was previously in a relationship with the accused.
According to investigators, she told police that she came into contact with the accused through social media after being inspired by his journey from a police constable to an IPS officer.
She allegedly stated that:
- She resigned from a private company in January at the accused’s request.
- She joined an educational institution run by the accused’s brother.
- She worked there without receiving a salary because of their personal relationship.
- She allegedly provided around ₹15 lakh for running the institution and meeting the accused’s personal expenses.
- The accused allegedly proposed a live-in relationship, which she declined as her divorce proceedings had not concluded.
Police said the woman later distanced herself from the accused after allegedly being contacted by the complainant, who informed her about the alleged relationship and accused him of violent behaviour.
Her statement was recorded after the present criminal case was registered.
IAS Trainee Also Questioned
Investigators have also examined a trainee IAS officer who reportedly became acquainted with the accused through social media after he cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
According to police, the accused allegedly proposed marriage to her in November 2025, which she declined.
Police further claimed that because she knew the complainant, the accused had allegedly messaged her regarding his relationship with the trainee IPS officer.
Her statement has also been included in the investigation.
Husband’s Statement Recorded
The complainant’s husband has also given a statement to investigators.
According to police, he alleged that after the complainant accepted his marriage proposal in January, the accused sent threatening messages to him.
Investigators said he voluntarily handed over his mobile phone for forensic examination.
