Hyderabad: Trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy (2025 batch) has been remanded to judicial custody in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a fellow trainee woman IPS officer. The investigation, being supervised by DCP (Women Safety Wing) Lavanyanayak Jadav, has expanded as police examine multiple pieces of evidence, including electronic devices, handwritten letters and statements from witnesses.
Investigators are also probing allegations that the accused was involved in another close relationship with a woman from Andhra Pradesh, after the complainant reportedly mentioned the matter during the investigation.
Crime Scene Reconstructed, Electronic Devices Seized
As part of the ongoing probe, police reconstructed the alleged crime scene and conducted searches at Uday Krishna Reddy’s room in Ashok Nagar.
During the search, investigators seized:
- A laptop
- A mobile phone
- A knife
- Two handwritten love letters
The seized materials are expected to be examined as part of the forensic and digital investigation.
Police Probe Another Relationship
According to investigators, preliminary findings suggest that Uday Krishna Reddy was allegedly in a close relationship with a woman from Andhra Pradesh.
Police said the woman had married in 2014 and separated from her husband in 2023. While living separately with her son, she reportedly came into contact with the accused, following which the two allegedly developed a close friendship.
Based on the accused’s suggestion, she later shifted to Hyderabad and initially joined a private organisation.
Investigators stated that in January this year, she resigned from that job on the accused’s advice and subsequently joined an IAS coaching institute in Ashok Nagar.
Police further said the accused allegedly proposed that they enter into a live-in relationship. However, the woman reportedly declined, stating that her divorce proceedings had not yet been legally concluded.
Interaction With Complainant
According to the investigation, the woman later met the trainee IPS officer who has filed the present complaint in February this year.
During their interaction, the complainant allegedly informed her that she too had been in a close relationship with Uday Krishna Reddy and claimed that he had physically assaulted her and subjected her to emotional distress through aggressive and erratic behaviour.
Following this conversation, the other woman reportedly distanced herself from the accused.
Police are examining these developments as part of the broader investigation.
Statements of Around 20 Witnesses Recorded
Investigators have so far recorded statements from around 20 individuals connected with the case.
Police also claim to have gathered evidence supporting the complainant’s allegation that the accused forcibly entered her room and snatched her mobile phone.
Officials said these allegations are being corroborated through witness testimonies, digital evidence and other material collected during the investigation.
Behaviour During Training Under Scanner
During the course of the investigation, police reportedly learned that several trainees had experienced difficulties due to Uday Krishna Reddy’s alleged temper and behaviour during the training period.
Investigators are examining these accounts to determine whether they have any relevance to the present case.
Investigation Continues
The Hyderabad Police have stated that the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are continuing to analyse the seized electronic devices, examine witness statements and verify all available evidence before taking further legal action in accordance with the law.
