Hyderabad: Fresh details have emerged in the case involving 2025-batch trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy, with Hyderabad Police alleging that he threatened to leak private chats and harassed a fellow trainee officer after she ended their relationship and married another person.

Mr Reddy was arrested on July 28 near Aramghar X Roads in Hyderabad and was produced before the First Class Additional Judicial Magistrate, Rajendranagar, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. He has since been lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail.

Relationship Began Through Instagram

According to the Hyderabad Police, Reddy, who earlier served as a Police Constable in Andhra Pradesh before clearing the UPSC Civil Services Examination and joining the 2025 IPS batch, came into contact with the complainant through Instagram in mid-2025.

Police said the woman, who is also a trainee IPS officer, responded to one of Reddy’s posts about his journey to joining the Indian Police Service. The two exchanged contact details and developed a relationship.

Police Allege Pattern of Harassment

According to the investigation, the relationship was marked by repeated arguments, emotional manipulation and controlling behaviour during their training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) and later at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad.

Police alleged that Reddy:

  • Frequently threatened to die by suicide.
  • Displayed weapons to intimidate the victim.
  • Damaged her laptop during an argument.
  • Demanded multiple relationships.
  • Created fake social media accounts after being blocked.
  • Threatened to release her private chats.
  • Contacted her family members and colleagues without her consent.

Harassment Continued After Marriage

Investigators said the complainant eventually ended the relationship because of the alleged harassment and later married another person.

Police allege that after learning about her marriage, Reddy intensified the harassment by creating fake social media profiles, threatening to make private conversations public and continuing to contact her relatives and colleagues despite being blocked.

Case Registered Under BNS and IT Act

Based on the woman’s complaint, Attapur Police registered a case under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges relating to sexual offences, criminal intimidation, stalking and harassment, along with Sections 66E and 67A of the Information Technology Act.

According to Hyderabad Police, the investigation found prima facie evidence of the offences alleged in the complaint, following which the trainee IPS officer was taken into custody.

Investigation Continues

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rajendranagar Zone), S. Srinivas, said further investigation is underway to establish all facts and circumstances related to the case.

Police have stated that appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the law as the investigation progresses.
